We add pineapple and marshmallows to our cranberry salad. Would those two items freeze dry well?

I have FD cranberry relish. 3 ingredients. 12 oz cranberries, 2 oranges, 2 cups sugar. To lower sugar content I replace 1 cp sugar eith apx 1/4 tsp stevia extract powder(too nuch stevia gives a bitter taste). Chop in food processor. Set in fridge for 2-3 days. FD or eat. I have never had this blow up.

Stevia is overaall yucky, even a little bit (maybe that's the issue, that I can't eat/drink things with fake sugar 🤢, I can taste even a little bit of those aspartans etc, sugar or no sugar for me👍).

Have made this relish right off the back of the pack of cranberries, 12 ounces cranberries, one large orange, 3/4 cup sugar. Put it into silicone molds, freeze, pop them out of the mold put them on the tray with a silicone liner on the tray. Took about 30 hours. I think it’s shorter if the bites are separated. They turn out great. I’ve also done this adding lemon and /or some ginger. Yum.

Question we don't buy canned cranberry we have a recipe passed down through our family for generation. we use one package of fresh cranberries and one naval orange peel and all, we use a metal hand grinder we put it in a square glass baking dish add sugar for sweetness to your taste mix it all together very well then in a bowl we add half a package of raspberry jello half a package of strawberry jello and a quarter package each of lime and lemon jello then we add hot boiling water of one and a half cups stir until everything is dissolved then gently pour over well mixed cranberry mixture and gently mix together very well then cover tightly with plastic wrap and put in frig until sold do you think this can be freeze dried???

Surprised that you used one cup of Stevia. It can be overpowering.
I've had good luck with using a little sugar (2 or 3 TB) in mixes like this.

The sugar worked the best and didn't give me any trouble. Stevie can be overpowering in larger doses

If it’s something you’re going to use right away for Thanksgiving, Can you chop up some walnuts to add to the mixture? I know you can’t freeze dry nuts

I’m not sure of the difference in the chemical makeup, but wondering if using sucanat would keep it from exploding. It’s actually dried cans sugar. I’ve switched to using sucanat in everything. It’s pricier than white sugar, but it’s a healthier alternative (not that sugar is healthy, lol).

Hello!! I just found your channel, Thank you! -- I ordered a freeze dryer and a chamber vac last week so the timing is perfect to discover what you've done. I look forward to learning lots.
One basic question I still have about long term preservation -- you cannot can or freeze dry fats, but we need and want some fat (tallow, lard, butter) in our lives even in a long-term disaster. Do you have a method of preserving fat? I tried canning butter and after six months I tasted it and it seems a tiny bit moldy. It can freeze it but that's a problem if there is no electricity. Any experience worked for you?

I make a candy every year called Broken Glass Candy. It basically is sugar, corn syrup and water. In the freeze dryer it is like Cinnamon cotton candy. lol but it’s so stinking good.
    Yes it bubbles big time

Nothing like freeze dried fruit. When in the Army we used to have freeze dried fruit cocktail, pears and peaches. Was the best thing to get and one thing you actually enjoyed. Would be one of the first things I tried to do if I had a freeze drier

Freeze-dried cheesey eggs for omlets. It is so good. They are not quite as fluffy as non fd, but still great, especially when made with extra sharp white cheddar from a local cheese factory
