I think that is what makes your work so joyous, the fact you use your intuition, your ‘lets give it a go’, experiment, it’s your fuel, as such in itself, perfect.
I knew as soon as you said ‘the sensible thing to do….’ that you were going to move swiftly on. That’s what I love about your work . The spontaneity resulting in beautiful exciting pieces. Thank you. I also have Lino and tools hiding somewhere.
How wonderful that your boat painting is going to a viewer! Do you weigh the paintings yourself Gaynor and do you need special scales to do so? Loved to see your lino cut experiments with the zingy green. You have jogged my memory that I have lino cutting set that I have never used! Thank you for being an artistic constant in my week and enjoy the week ahead. X
You have a delightful personality and laugh. I watch your channel at work while closing picture frames and many other non art related. You are the one I watch when I need to relax and stop thinking. Thought you might like a nice compliment. Also, your approach to painting is much like my own and I really enjoy your processes. Have a lovely day!!!
Hello Gaynor, I truly love to watch you work. It gives me inspiration. Love your studio and garden too. Questions: You always have such nice clothes. How do you manage to keep the paint off them ? lol... Wish I also had a Craig to make frames for me. They are so expensive to buy. Would be nice to know/see how he proceeds to make them. What is it that you use on the corners of your frames to protect them in transport ? Wishing you a lovely day from Eastern Canada. See you next Thursday !
Hello Murielle, lovely to hear from you. You might have noticed that I don't use a lot of water and I think that is why I stay relatively clean. I have such a mix of activities in one day that I dress once in the morning and if I'm painting the apron is enough protection. I will try and find the video with step by step photos of Craig's framing process. We buy lengths of timber and prices have increased quite a lot ! I use protective corners from an online company called global packaging and for shipping and transporting they have made an enormous difference. Have a wonderful creative week in Canada XX
Really enjoyed the lino cutting, something I've never tried ! Love the alliums too. How about some lino cut cards ? Wishing you well for the exhibition 😊
Hi Gaynor, I have been traveling cross country from Oregon since April 19. I will catch up on the videos I missed. I like to take my time with your videos and be in a relaxing place where I can watch. I am currently in Columbus Ohio. I have been visiting art museums along the way in Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana and now in Ohio.
This was such fun! Loved seeing you experiment with lino today. The show looks like it's going to be wonderful! I can't seem to throw away a nice paper bag either, this is a fun way to do art on them! Have a great weekend, hugs!
Hello Gaynor, I’m surprised the boat picture didn’t go sooner. It was lovely. Did the exhibition go well? Yours area was very professional, but It was all impressive to be fair. I do enjoy your experiments, and the alliums are coming on for sure. Loved the quote too. A very inspirational video that leaves us with the clear message, play!!!!😂 Have a lovely week. 💐
Morning Gaynor, paper bag Alliums are coming on wonderfully !!How addictive is collage and painting combined!I love it!Thank you for introducing me to Lino cutting, something I’ve never looked into..at the risk of sounding stupid..is it special Lino and a particular ink?🫣😁Perhaps you can get a starter pack?I was wondering where the hammer was coming in and then you moved it lol!Anyway I really want to have a go now!How lovely does the lime green over the black look!Love that combination!Cant wait to see the black, white and paper bag painting!I agree with your thoughts on perfection,to me perfection = tension! If I want perfection,I will take a photograph!Much better to be wild and free and create something unique! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!❤
Hello Beverly, apologies for this late reply....I've been busy chatting in the Exhibition 😂 If you google Lino cut materials you will see that there is quite a range available. The Lino block/mat I use is quite hard and you can get softer Lino. My tools are pretty old and you only need one or two to get started....again these vary. A starter kit is a great idea 😊 I am taking your advice and going for wild and free this week....have a wonderful week yourself XX
I enjoyed this video - even though it took the entire day to get to the end. So many distractions this time of year! I totally hear you about the hay fever. Right now where I live in Canada the pollen is pouring off the huge pine tree outside my door in yellow clouds, and covering every surface. I have to take antihistamines every day! That said, I've never noticed your sniffing, and I do tend to notice things like that. This definitely looks like it's a series coming. I was so happy to see that snippet of you working on the linocut... I've never actually seen it done. I recently bought a couple of blocks of lino as a friend has promised to teach me, and will provide the tools and ink. I really think it's a wonderful idea to use it to produce monoprints for your paintings. I did go and take a look at your website - your prices really ARE affordable! The show looks lovely - everybody's art is lovely. Tell Sally that I particularly enjoyed her colourful hats painting! Great idea. Have a creative week!
Oooo, someone else who loves and keeps paper bags 😁 Would open acrylics help you with your prints? My mom says your tree is a salix, so getting one! Love the cards too ❤
Hello Charlotte, yes it is Salix....I double checked and forgot to come back to you...sorry !! And yes, what a good idea to use open acrylics, thank you X
I’m taking great inspiration from you this week. My sewing has been attracting my attention but I think I may be ready to start a commission which has been scaring me!
@@Flatshader that sounds like a great idea. I’m picking back up on dressmaking but I do also create mixed media art that includes sewing references. I’m trying to create my first video on here about it. 😬
Another episode of something new and exciting! I haven't done lino printing since high school many decades ago, and now I have a decided yen to get some supplies and try it again. Thank you again for an inspiring session.
Good morning, Gaynor! It's always a pleasure to have my Thursday morning coffee with you. There is something called Moo Carve that is much less grueling to carve than linoleum, so if you keep going with this you might want to try that. Have a lovely week! Paula
Muckin’ around and messin’ about. You do that so well. And that gorgeous painting @ 9:50 is amazing. Cut agapanthus straight down the middle. It’s clearly two pictures 😀😀
Hello Gaynor, your yard is looking lovely and I'm really into this current painting you're doing with the paper and flowers!!! I'm experiencing an art drought myself but checking in with you often helps!!! I hope your week is brilliant. Thanks for sharing the exhibition with us! Your friend across the pond, Samahra❤
Love the addition of the green paint on the black and white drawing, do not cut it up!! Please finish it and frame it! It will be lovely. Love the video today, keep on please….you need to just do you, don’t worry about everyone else!!
Enjoying your videos very much. Many thanks. Your way of working is very refreshing. I am wondering if your problem with the allium painting could be resolved if you chopped it in half. You’ll then have a diptych which might be more compositionally pleasing. Just a suggestion….🙂
So many techniques and variety within this work, complementing the structured design. I marvel at the amount of work you put into realizing what can be. Thank you so much for inspiring us to be brave and take risk with intelligence and courage. Love sharing your journeys.
Gaynor, Love your art, style, manner, thoughts and authenticity! I’ve seen folks use clear acrylic medium as the final coat when pulling a layered or complex gelly print, applying the paper and leaving it to completely dry before pulling, wonder if that would help reactivate the ink/paint when it dries out too quickly to enable that last pull… Thanks for all you bring us! I really look forward to Thursdays! Staci
I really liked the Lino and paint print, very interesting. I love experimenting like this. I wonder if doing a jelly print as a ground and then do the lino print on top. I love using jelly print papers as a ground. Thanks for another great inspiring, energetic and fun video. I really appreciate your efforts for us viewers. Good luck with the show!
