If you have a family, dont move to Downtown. All cement, too much noise and homelessness. Move to a costal city north of La Jolla. A little expensive but a better life for your kids than downtown.
You can go without going out to eat to save money. You can buy organic produce and tofu at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's and buy organic rice, wild caught fish or lean beef or chicken at Ralph's, Von's, or Albertsons to be both healthy and fiscally responsible.
San Diego has a lot going for it but my least favorite thing about it is the extreme politcs in this city and state that has made life for most residents difficult and less affordable.

I live in downtown San Diego. Gaslamp district.
It is very touristy, lots of homelessness, expensive and dirty.
Little Italy is probably the best area to live downtown.
I agree. If I had to live downtown then I would choose Little Italy.

I lived in downtown of San Diego betweem February 2019 to June 2021. I lived in East Village on the 13th street.I simply loved it. It was so nice, great and beautiful. I worked in the VA in La Jolla. I have an opportunity to come back to San Diego again. I am not sure whether it is Ok to go back to San Diego. Is It worth it?
I would say it's definitely "okay" to come back to San Diego. If you are considering moving to Downtown again, I would drive around first. The homeless situation has changed sone 2021.
@@Williamnelsonrealtor Thank you for letting me know William. Well, I do not have car and so I am usually take bus or train. I used to work in the VA in La Jolla, and I was taking a bus number 150 from downtown to La Jolla. Now I know that there is train that can take me directly from Downtown area to La Jolla. I loved Downtown area. It was so nice and beautiful. It was a really good place to live at least during my time in San Diego.
I never could stand being in SD. Never knew why, it just sucks.
I wish there were more people who felt the same way.
Until California builds container home cities in the interior for the homeless, gets them off the street and into helpful facilities and programs, The State will continue to go downhill - with tourism the firt major shoe to drop. It's such a shame to see San Diego, LA, Santa Monica, SF just being trashed by these people.
I’m not sure how they will eventually take care of the problem. I know they spend a ton of money on homelessness but nothing seems to change.

It's illegal to build low-cost housing in most Californian cities, San Diego included. 81% of the land in San Diego prohibits any housing type besides a large detached house, and as the video points out that's in the $1+ million range. San Diego could solve its homelessness problem by legalizing low-cost housing but it refuses to.

@@HMaxTube11 Houston. Houston got an astonishing 25,000 homeless people off the streets and into permanent housing because they build an abundance of housing in Houston every year.

Why would you drive to the farmers market or Little Italy if you already live downtown? Your parking topic doesn't have much merit. The whole point of living downtown is to be close to things. Getting in your car and circling for parking for something you could walk to in 5 minutes defeats the whole point of living downtown.

The only reason we moved to downtown is because we found a place that is a steal and right by the freeway.
Me and my wife did the same thing. We lived in the big red highrise that's right by the I-5. It was so cheap at the time that we couldn't not move there lol.
