I love this series. It manages to be very grounded, yet a little surreal and very real at the same time. Quite the tightrope. Great casting, great performances, and a lot of it was improvised or semi-improvised which really helped with it feeling real. They were also careful to often separate the child and adult actors in rehearsa ls etc., so they never quite knew what was going to happen; so a lot of the reactions are pretty genuine.
Comic Relief recently reunited the kids, it's funny seeing them grown up. It's on their UA-cam channel, and they're reacting to the Comic Relief specials they did.
Omg yes I love outnumbered there is like no reactions to it apart from a few so I hope you carry on!
Keep your eyes peeled over the coming days...
So glad you decided to react to this series and more so that you’ve loved it. It’s really funny and knows when to be serious with the family drama.
Ben is almost like me when I was little. I’m autistic and I can see a lot of neurodivergent traits within the performance and characterisation which you hopefully might see as you continue further on in the series. Do you see anything neurodivergent traits in him out of curiosity?
It’s always nice to see some neurodivergent representation in media weather it was the writer’s intention or not during a time where autistic audiences should get same positive treatment and inclusion that people on the LGBTQ+ community and POC have been getting over the years thanks to a more accepting and diverse media now if that makes sense to you.
Oh, I agree so much with this comment! I'm autistic too, but I think Karen is the most similar to me when I was little. I was such a know-it-all and was always making adults angry or sad, but couldn't figure out why. Between Ben and Karen, Outnumbered is definitely unexpectedly good neurodivergent representation. It does tend to be the case that (seemingly) unintentional representation is better though. Looking at you, almost every character in BBC Ghosts.
