I'm into 3D printing for a month now and I really wanna crank it up a notch with painting models. I'll take your project as an example for my own first tries.
So cool! Thingiverse has so many things out there. We bought our grandsons a small 3D printer for Christmas and they have been printing things from Thingiverse like crazy.
DCD Laser & CNC yeah it’s really fun! Most of the stuff I make I design in fusion 360 but I’m nowhere near good enough to digitally sculpt this so sites like thingiverse are a great resource
Hi there. So I’m trying your technique on a concrete statue and the dry brush technique doesn’t seem to be doing much coverage. Am I doing something wrong?
I was painting with these exact paints , but once I started to paint with the 1736 leather I noticed my brushes clumped up a lot and just kind of got ruined. First time painter, any advice ?
The clumping it likely due it it drying before you’re ready. A wet pallet would prevent that and it’s really an amazing difference but if you’re not doing a lot of painting and want a free solution pre-wet your brush so the paint doesn’t seep as far up toward the handle and dry there and the excess water will help to keep the pain loaded on the the brush fresher You can also just add a drop or two of water to the paint on your pallet to thin it a bit. Assuming water is the appropriate thinner, if not use the appropriate thinner.
Did you sand any of this down ? I’m beginning my prep for painting groot and I’ve been having trouble with getting good coverage with paint on some test prints. They don’t cover the print all that well when painting and layer lines pop out more even after priming.
Not sure how I missed this video of yours, especially since I have been doing the same print and paint job for a while now. It looks great and your 3D print looks a little cleaner than what I have been able to get, I might have to bug you for your secret settings.
GeekBuilders that was just cura stock settings with my el cheapo Anet a8 and that was dropped off a table and rebuilt with hdpe parts. High fill primer is the closet thing to a secret I’ve got. I use my prusa far more commonly these days and I have no doubt it would perform better but that old Anet has yet to let me down. I think that print was even before a lot of my custom upgrades
this was one of the first things i had painted since i was a kid and i was never good at it. organic stuff like this is pretty forgiving im sure it will come out great
For not painting in a long time, that was an amazing job.
thank you :)

Easily the best baby groot 3d print finish I've seen thus far on UA-cam. Great job
J D thank you 😊
Thanks for your tutorial, love your paint choices!

Which 3D printer do you use?
Just a cheap Anet A8 but it works great and I love it.
TabLeft Workshop we bought the grandsons a low cost Monoprice III mini. It does pretty well. Wish it had a larger build area.
You did such an amazing job on the painting and enhancements. Great job!
How cute that little Groot turned out.. ^^ Great!! :D
Great job! That was fun to watch.
Thank you!

Very cool Groot!!!
Thanks it was pretty fun
WOW!!! very good job
Thank you there are a few things I would change if I did another but all in all for the first model I’ve painted in 25 years I’m pretty happy with it
That turned out great, Ray
Thanks Charlie!

@@TabLeft is paint thinner needed for this ?

And if you did sand, any recommendations on tools to use besides sandpaper. There’s fine details that I didn’t wanna mess up and over sand as well.
I didn’t do any sanding on mine. Started with couple coats of rustolium filler primer
Awesome job
Did you use a wash and if so what color

GeekBuilders thanks! I’ve seen yours on Instagram they look great!

Cool character!
What paint did you use for the eyes? I can’t find them
Just a gloss black from testers I think
@@TabLeft Found it! Thank you so much!
When I made the seprate head and when I came back from Braum's it came apart and it looks messed up so I had to start a new head
What did you use to paint the eyes? Is it also acrylic paint?
that is very very good
Awsome !
Thanks
Que maravilla, donde compras las pinturas? Me suscribo a tú canal
Regardless if it comes in a spray, can or tube, paint always cost $3.99
super
