What's the spacing needed to make him turn around without doing the 180 claw swipe?

You need to stay near the tip of the tail to make him turn around, thats the right distance, if you are interested i've pinned a comment with a link of an updated version of this run

When you are at a specific distance in a specific position from him you can predict that,
if you are too close he will charge all the way
