I didn't know much about Matt Mays other then the few songs they played on the radio in Montreal. Then I went to The George Street Festival in St. John's, Newfoundland this summer and he opened up for The Wallflowers. Man, did he steal the show!! There had been a heatwave and he ended with this song and just as he started to play it, it started to drizzle rain and before the end of the song the heavens opened up and it was just pouring. It was one of the most magical moments I've ever experienced in my life, a moment I'll never forget.
most underrated artist of all time. This track, and MM have changed my life. This song is the world to me. Every time im down, every time my heart is broken, this song is here for me. I find new ways to relate to it every time I need it. He touches your soul with how he sings songs from the heart, pulling you in. This song in particular pulled me from dark places countless times. He really deserves more credit for what he is doing, and I can't say that enough. This song deserves to be so much bigger than it is. People NEED to hear music like this. I've gone back to this song every day. This is my escape, and my heart's home. Thank You Matt for all you do. One of the last heroes of Rock and Roll, and an Absolute Gem. Every day I play and sing his songs and guitar, he holds a part of my soul, and a part of my heart.
This is the most epic fucking tune I have ever heard from a rock band. It inspires me to get the boys back together and try some none-Metallica covers. The old bass player has been messing around with the keyboard...perfect.
Matt Mays & El Torpedo - Terminal Romance Lyrics Broke the winter's back And split for the Sun Shot through the night from a frozen gun With my eyes to the skies And one foot to the ground I really gotta' go ... Away It's a rough n' tumble come down at the break of day Sitting here staring out across the bay With that sunrise in your eyes There's never really too much to say But I really gotta' go. ... Away Cause heartbreaks are uncurable And I'm up all night Stone-faced in New York City Trying to set things right She talks with her hands and she's saying goodbye Nobody's gonna' tell me why They just say time, time heals all But I don't believe them Cause heartbreaks are uncurable And I'm up all night Stone-faced in New York City Trying to set things right Now time rolls on religiously, swift and sly Bullet train full of souls riding through the night Everyone thinks they can slow it down I used to be like that before I knew you There ain't nothing as dead as a dead romance Nothing more alive than the city tonight Storefront windows reflecting me Where my steel cut heart can feel the electricity Look at me now, whose gonna' take me there From this lighting and the thunder and you, the eighth wonder She talks with her hands and she's saying goodbye Nobody's gonna' tell me why They just say time, time heals all But I don't, I don't, I don't believe them Cause heartbreaks are uncurable And I'm up all night Stone-faced in New York City Trying to set things right (repeat) Look at me now, whose gonna' take me there From this lighting and the thunder and you, the eighth wonder She sang rock n' roll with the devil

Matt Mays & El Torpedo - Terminal Romance Lyrics
Broke the winter's back
And split for the Sun
Shot through the night from a frozen gun
With my eyes to the skies
And one foot to the ground
I really gotta' go
... Away
It's a rough n' tumble come down at the break of day
Sitting here staring out across the bay
With that sunrise in your eyes
There's never really too much to say
But I really gotta' go.
... Away
Cause heartbreaks are uncurable
And I'm up all night
Stone-faced in New York City
Trying to set things right
She talks with her hands and she's saying goodbye
Nobody's gonna' tell me why
They just say time, time heals all
But I don't believe them
Cause heartbreaks are uncurable
And I'm up all night
Stone-faced in New York City
Trying to set things right
Now time rolls on religiously, swift and sly
Bullet train full of souls riding through the night
Everyone thinks they can slow it down
I used to be like that before I knew you
There ain't nothing as dead as a dead romance
Nothing more alive than the city tonight
Storefront windows reflecting me
Where my steel cut heart can feel the electricity
Look at me now, whose gonna' take me there
From this lighting and the thunder and you, the eighth wonder
She talks with her hands and she's saying goodbye
Nobody's gonna' tell me why
They just say time, time heals all
But I don't, I don't, I don't believe them
Cause heartbreaks are uncurable
And I'm up all night
Stone-faced in New York City
Trying to set things right (repeat)
Look at me now, whose gonna' take me there
From this lighting and the thunder and you, the eighth wonder
She sang rock n' roll with the devil
Still can't get enough of this album! So good! What would the tuning be for the lap steel guitar on this tune?
Couldnt have said it better myself
