The fact that Dixie still isn't in Smash, while a bunch of clowns who have nothing to do with Nintendo are, is nothing short of criminal. Smash has lost its way.
Just the music alone makes me really want this game! Kinda glad they pushed it back now since I'm pretty much set on what I'm spending on games the rest of the year. I'll have to get it though, especially since I never picked up DKCR on the Wii or 3DS. Looks like Retro is doing an amazing job here!

It's awesome Dixie's back, she should have never left. Though what's with the pink DX barrels, earrings and this little pink gun thing she has... the colour coding and needless accessorizing seems kinda unnecessary, this isn't Super Mario Brothers. She also doesn't seem as awesome or assertive as she was in DKC 2 or 3, what gives?
An indie game called "A Hat in Time" is coming to PC and Wii U and is a collectathon game. Its also in a wind waker kind of cell shaded style and has allot of inspiration drawn from Nintendo games. Thats why it wont come to other consoles, so look forward to that game!
It looks decent but I notice Dixie is only with DK. Does that mean you are stuck with DK as a character? Don't get me wrong, I like DK but playing all the DKC on the snes I want to pick who I want. DKC2 was a top favorite for my brother and I, and it would be awesome to play Diddy and Dixie again as a team.
He means that if you're playing in multiplayer, that you can choose which characters you play as. (Donkey and Diddy, Donkey and Dixie, Diddy and Dixie)

Ever since the release of the first game the idea of those four (Donkey, Didy, Dixie and Funky) as playable characters (chosen by the player, not that one HAS to be DK) has been my biggest hope for this new game. No matter if it's 1p, 2p or 4p I'd like to have the option to play as any of those when I start a level :)
Well, I can officially say that Retro have revived the DK franchise and established a solid foundation of how the series can, and should, progress from now on. Seeing those 3D sections though, I can't help but get a longing for a true 3D adventure again :)) I can just imagine it in HD, with the gorgeous, lush layers of mountains, hills, deserts, trees, jungles and all the other different magical worlds & elements we saw in DK64. Sadly, the Kremlings won't make a return any time soon it seems.

I think they're called 3D collect-a-thons. The Wii U has a lot of indie support, so eventually atleast one new 3D collect-a-thon will be released for it.
Because at E3 when the game was announced they said there will be four playable characters, they just haven't announced who that character is. Search 'unannounced character tropical freeze' on Google.
Yeah, I totally goofed about Banjo & Kazooie. But I know for a fact Diddy Kong Racing was David Wise. I've played that game to death and seen the credits countless times. He's credited as D. Wise, and his name pops up right as the screen transitions to Jungle Falls.
they probably live in the same world:they have some similar characters,and banjo kazooie and DK 64 have lots of elements in common(Fungus forest was visited by banjo and donkey kong once)
I always did love Dixie, and was sorely upset when she stopped appearing in games, both in Mario spin-offs (unlike Diddy Kong) and in the actual Donkey Kong games.
Before Donkey Kong 64, there were the 2D sidescrollers, Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3... Which were all very much about jumping on enemies' heads. I think that's what Retro Studios is going for. :P
Grant Kirkhope did the music for Banjo & Kazooie. David Wise did all the original music for the DKC franchise, Battletoads, Marble Madness, Wizards and Warriors and R.C. Pro Am series.

I would be so FULL OF HYPE if King K Rool was the fourth character. His story could be that he's freaking pissed off at the vikings for attack his turf (DK Isle) and maybe even going after his crew.
There are ice elements in the stages and there are two :P But I think, they won't show too much Icelevels, cause when they show too much of them, the fans think that there will be just Icelevels and won't be like a normal Donkey Kong with Junglestages. I like it anyway :)

They didnt abandon anything honestly. Tropical Freeze frankly is setting itself a tone that fits next to the other DKC's unlike Returns, and Retro kicked their butts off. DKCR, and Tropical Freeze are by far the best looking 2.5D Platformer ever, its sweet eye candy, just like the originals were. They dont have to be realistic, its the vibe and music, and there were plenty.
I want one real bad and definitely will get it in the next 6 or so months, but I want this game and others on the go too, I don't mind buying games twice sometimes for portable versions.
Just a reminder that "Social interaction" is Nintendo's selling point of the Wii U (other than the controller) and so far NONE of their games have the biggest aspect of social interaction in gaming, which is online multiplayer. Also, let's not forget that online multiplayer doesn't hurt local multiplayer in any way at all.
Also, I feel obligated to fix that statement; I played DKC three years ago, hated it, and never touched the games until I THEN played Returns, thought it was fun, and decided to give the game anotehr chance, upon which I found myself enjoying it So while DKC is the first game I played, Returns is technically the first I enjoyed
Dixie's hair acting as a helicopter propeller has been her signature technique ever since forever. And, there has been many DKC games before, how does this mean that Nintendo is moving away from Mario? Oh wait, that's right. You're comment has no logic whatsoever.
I'm not talking about who it's aimed towards, I'm just saying that, at least where I'm from, adults, teenagers and kids alike played the first donkey kong countries and were impressed by it's depth, whereas the newest ones carry a cartoonish tone, and some people don't even want to give it a try.

Yeah well it IS called DONKEY KONG Country, and DK has been playable in Half of the games, Tropical making it 3/4th. He is the star you know. Returns did have a mode where you could play as Diddy, so who knows.

Yeah they certainly are. I don't know why I always assumed Wise did B&K. Maybe it's because I relate Grant to the darker stuff like GoodenEye and Perfect Dark.
it would be cool to finally play as Funky Kong, or heck even Cranky Kong in the game. Cranky can do a pogo cane move like Scrooge McDuck in Duck Tales, lol.

part of this game is go-op, so they had to change it to make it work with the co-op idea. the original titles didn't use co-op even in multiplayer.
Here, I have the info: Rare was purchased by Microsoft in 2002, but K. Rool appears in Mario Super Sluggers for Wii in 2008, so, we can have K. Rool in the next smash bros games!!! *dance of joy*

Not entirely. In the original Donkey Kong Country series, she could hover in the hair for a while and and slightly slower. Great for precise movements. While Diddy could run faster then her, and climb things faster then her. We would have to wait and see when this one comes out to see the differences.
There is a new swimming feature, a new ability, two new characters (Dixie and n unknown fourth), levels divided by islands, HD graphics, and a new "3D perspective" (I assume this is referring to how the cannons seem to work in this game at times). It's not spectacularly new or anything (in fact it's pretty similar) but it's certainly not a complete copy. It seems fine to me, a definite pick-up for later on. Besides, revisions and touch-ups are being made as we speak.

Hey, who knows? Maybe 3D World will be challenging. It's weird for a 4-player but they have shown more focus on difficulty recently (W101, Hero Mode in WW), perhaps it'll appeal to the hardcore fans as well. After all, climbing to the top pole doesn't seem to result in a 1-Up this time around. It does look a little easy though from what I've seen, at least on multiplayer mode. We'll have to wait and see I guess. It'll probably be casual though.
Yep. Kinect Sports, anyone?.... But seriously now, Retro has done a fantastic job at rejuvenating the Metroid and DK franchises. It'll be awesome to have Tropical Freeze out in a few months. Most of the original founders of Rare have left, so the only reason I could see Nintendo trying to take Rare back is to obtain some IP. But I'd only be interested in the original DKC trilogy.
I'm looking forward to this! Had a blast with DKCR on the Wii. The difficulty was high, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. In fact, the only thing I did not enjoy, were the controls. I did not enjoy having to shake the Wiimote just to roll. I felt like it took away from the old school feel of the game.
Am I the only one that wishes DK had his Propeller Kong move from Smash Bros in this game, so that he'd have some mid-air capability like Diddy and Dixie do?

Lanky Kong would be the perfect 4th character- his long arms can get him to new heights.
I think maybe Dixie's ponytail will give you more height.
but Diddy's jetpack will give you more distance.

And DKC Returns was released 3 years before Rayman Legends which was a prequel to DKC Tropical Freeze

True, true, you make some good points. It seems I have underestimated non-competitive online multiplayer.
No, it varies from game to game. IIRC pro controller doesn't have gyros so games that use them have to work around it for example.
