@@boscos5287 what happens brother some asshole put oil in the fuel tanks n put white power on my semi in clean the fuel tanks is think they injectors r open
I had a loss of power going uphills and on launch on my 2012 international prostar maxxforce 13. Mechanic ran engine codes came up with a plan to replace 1 EGR Valve and on another issue reconnect dislodged turbo. After this, problem still exists 😔. After $3300.00 for parts Now he wants me to get a ‘fuel relief pressure sensor’ and a ‘fuel relief valve’. The mechanic called international dealer to request the parts but the dealer does not understand which part he is talking about, neither does the mechanic know how to describe the parts to the dealer. 🤷🏽♂️ dont know what im going to do. Im still driving local light loads around town to keep me breathing until i can save enough money so i can pay my bills first them back to the mechanic shop. Ill be broke for a while 😔.
I have the same problem with my ProStar. I talked to a mechanic who knows Maxx Force engines very well. In fact he used to fix my truck before he got ill. He told me that the Bosch fuel pumps are only good for about 500,000 miles. Really the problem is that the new ultra low sulfur diesel does not lubricate the pump as well as what the old low sulfur diesel formulation did. Over time the increased wear due to ULSD will cause the pump to deteriorate to the point where it can longer provide adequate fuel pressure to the engine. When that happens you get rough idle, power loss and the check engine light. The stored code will be 3055 and for low fuel rail pressure.
@@mike203920 would it cause the truck to not turn on either? im having this issue with a 2013 maxxforce and the code i get is 3055. the truck turns back on after maybe a rough 30 minutes to an 1hr. also what did you do to fix the problem? replaced the entire pump? rotex is quoting me $4,300 after taxes and core exchange.
@@JohnTheMexicanic Yes, PG, I had to replace the fuel pump. With my truck: the pump caused loss of power and rough idle. But I would imagine that if your pump is bad enough that it could cause hard starting as well. $4300 seems kind of steep to replace the pump. I paid $3000 for the pump which included a $955 core charge. I got the $955 back when i returned the old pump. I put the pump on myself, so it cost me a weekend and about 2 grand. Of course that was a year ago and the business climate is much different now. Skyrocketing inflation and parts shortages. So maybe $4300 isn't out of line to just have it done.
Mr. Smith It’s on the drivers side. Sometimes under or next to the drivers fender. And sometimes it’s on the drivers side up top next to the steering gear box... Follow the fuel lines
Yes you can. You can buy the piece online. The question is are you better off to just replace that piece or the whole pump? Those Bosch fuel pumps tend to wear out internally around 500,000 miles. So if the pump only had 300,000 miles on it: I probably would just replace that piece. On the other hand, if the pump had close to half a million miles or over, I probably would replace the whole pump.
As far as I know the Bosch pumps on the Maxx Force have two failure modes. The first is the pump cracking where the high pressure fuel lines attach. That is what happened to the truck in the video. You will know if that happens because the pump will leak fuel. The fuel is pressurized over 30,000 psi in those lines; so even the tiniest hairline crack will leak. The second failure mode is that the pump is worn internally and can no longer produce adequate fuel pressure. That is what happened to my truck. The symptoms of that are rough idling and power loss. The check engine light will come on and the ECM will store a code for low fuel rail pressure.
I’m not sure what your asking about. But the pump acts as both low pressure and high pressure pumps. The amount of pressure depends on the amount of demand. It’s all electronic
@@boscos5287i ask about that valve because i get a code on the truck , and two of the causes could be the "fuel pressure control valve " or the " fuel rail pressure sensor " but i cant find either or
John Lechuga I’d imagine the fuel pressure control valve is part of the pump it’s self. And I’d think the fuel pressure sensor is on the fuel rail. I’d call the dealer parts department and ask them for locations
