Ambulance Waits For Train With DPU Over 2.5 Miles Long! Fast Freight Trains In Ohio, Miami Fire Dept

- Longest auto rack train ever with a DPU and an ambulance has to wait for the train! This huge train was almost 3 miles long! CSX fast freight trains in Miamisburg, Ohio featuring the Miami Valley Fire Department. The fire department got an EMS run while the train was passing and cars waiting for the train were blocking the ambulance from getting out. The fire department had 2 fire rescue boats on the Great Miami River doing training. I had just started filming the boats when I heard the first train coming on my radio, which is a handheld scanner, Baofeng UV6R that I purchased from R&L Electronics in Hamilton, Ohio. I hope that answered dozens of potential questions. Lol. I ran up the hill to the railroad crossing and filmed the train. Right after the train passed I heard a siren from the ambulance as it was responding to a call. Then I filmed the fire boats on the river and watched them load the boats back onto the trailer. The second train that I filmed was a southbound CSX double stack intermodal unit train en route to Cincinnati Queensgate Yard. What do you think about the awesome fire equipment in this video and what do you think about the restored freight depot? I wish I knew who restored the freight depot because I have a huge barn that I would love to have restored like that. The drive through store across the railroad tracks is pretty awesome also. They named it the Railroad Express Drive-Thru & Carryout. Any store with a name like that and sits next to the railroad is definitely going to get my business! I got a couple big Red Bulls from there. Miamisburg also has a Norfolk Southern line in town and I have filmed trains going through town on that line several times. This is my first time to visit the crossing in this video though. Filmed July 2, 2021. Thanks for watching! Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

It would be so cool to see you out at a railroad crossing somewhere! I would feel like I met a movie star! Heck, you're BIGGER than any movie star to me! (Except Schwarzenegger maybe! Lol)
Btw. As for those kids playing in the culvert. That brought back a LOT of memories! We used to play in one under the freeway and we would take a tape recorder way back in there and blast AC/DC. We would come out of there with our ears ringing! I thought that was the loudest thing in the world!
I would have been right there with you and the loud AC/DC! I love the music as long as it’s loud. I did that same stuff and had a blast. Lolz
@@JawTooth that little tape recorder speaker made a LOT of noise back there in that culvert! We would go way back in there till it got so small we wouldn't fit anymore then blast Back in Black!!🤣🤣 (we had light from drainage grates)
My town! Pass this crossing every day. CSX is very busy on this line.
The next best thing to being there!
Thanks Stephen!
Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
Happy 4th everyone !
Very cool. Happy 4th of July 🧨🧨🧨
Happy 4th of July Jawtooth !!! Enjoy the holiday ! Nice video in a nice location !
Regards
Thank you! You too!
Happy Independence Day JawTooth
This spot definitely has the HEAVYWEIGHT TRAINS w DPU's. You need to frequent this place periodically JT! Awesome job as usual my friend and thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Will do!
Another nice video. Enjoy the holiday weekend! 👍🇺🇸
Thanks! You too!
Happy 4th of July Jaw Tooth. That was some good footage son! :)
Thanks! Happy 4th!
Wow,13,000 feet long.that was very long.Hope the patient in the ambulance survived. This is when an emergency tunnel is needed.Just like your video recently where there are railway gates but also a tunnel.Thank you for another great video.
Thanks Austin!
There's no need for a tunnel: there's a bridge over the railway half a mile to the north of the firehouse. The only reason this ambulance got blocked in is because it was on a training exercise down that gravel road to the river, and the exit from that road was blocked. The ambulance wouldn't normally be down there.
Great video Jawtooth loved the live action trains and the dpu alright it was cool with the boats and everything did you notice the car that ran through the gate at 10:30 you can even see the blue Subaru speeding down the hill at 10:23 when you turned your camera.
I didn't even notice that. Not sure how I missed it. Those gates were almost all the way down when he went past me
You are awesome jawtooth always look forward to one of your videos its something about trains that brightens my day and brings me joy seeing them thank you for being you and doing what you do it's never a dull moment when I see your videos
Two older locomotives on that intermodal. That was a bit unusual. Those trains were moving on.The Mighty Miami River. Thanks Brian.
Happy 4th, y'all!
🇺🇸💥💥💥🇺🇸💥🇺🇲💥💥💥🇺🇲
HAPPY 4th MIKEY and DANNY!
Happy Fourth!!
@@CintiRailFan HAPPY 4TH TO YOU AS WELL!!!!
Love the old paint scheme of the csx Cw44ac
Those two were loooonngg....! Nice boat action, too...
Great catch on the CSX AUTORACK w 146 cars! This spot in Miamisburg is definitely a HOTSPOT JT!
Sure is!
I love it when big road engine mid DPUs go by in a high notch with the supercharger whine in the background of that diesel rumble. I think of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars yelling "Power! Unnnnlimited power!" 🤭
Thanks, JT. Another good one. The boats were cool to watch them try to station keep in that current. The metal hull had an advantage in that.
Chessie's a good dog.
Couldn't agree more!
JT, Happy Independence Day! Keep doing what you're doing, man!!
Thanks! Will do!
I’m sure those kids saw the firefighters and left playing around that drainage tunnel . That edite motor boat made a cool turn in the water .
Wow that first train was almost three miles long have a happy Fourth of July jawtooth Mister Bryan
One of the longer that I have ever filmed. Happy Fourth!
Those were some formidable freights, loved the scenery, cool video, thanks jaw tooth, ten thumbs up
Many thanks!
When I lived in Ohio, I was on that very piece of ground/trackage. Took pictures of the freight station with my old 35 mm camera, probably around 1990. Glad to see that freight house still standing!
Cool seeing the water teams. That blue car racing down the hill and apparently driving around the gates wasn’t cool on his part.
Happy Independence Day! Wow a regular cornucopia of action, long train, marine operation, and the k9 crew. Almost forgot about the ambulance run.
Another great location.
With all these auto racks in your last few videos I wonder where all these vehicles are going. It's a 6 month wait for a lot of vehicles here in centeral NC and up to 8 months for most pick-ups .
Thanks for you hard work. 😎👍👌
Good question! I also filmed a huge auto rack train that CSX was handing off to CIND to take to Greensburg, Indiana to reload. I filmed that train on the west side of Cincinnati last week but I haven't posted it yet
Nicely restored freight house. To think it was built decades before the autoracks and containers were even thought of. Its even possible that the loading dock or team track saw autos delivered there from boxcars. Time marches on and the auto dealership on wheels had several fallen flag carriers. BN. CR. GTW and others with obsolete emblems. Can one even imagine new convertible racks bearing emblems of fallen flags LV. RDG. NKP. CGW. NP?Who even knows what the next decade will hold. Have a safe & happy 4th!
Enjoy the moment it may be all we have!
Those were the "golden days" of railroading. In every community along the rail line, the station and the local freight house were the vital hubs of travel, goods, commerce and news from the telegraph. Where the old timers could hang out, gossip and people watch. Where you came to check to see if your order from Sears and Roebuck had come in. You lived according to the schedule of the Railroad and the local train. Almost wish we could go back to those days. A 12 year old boy could walk down the street with his .22 rifle to the outside of town and harvest a few bushy tails or bunnies. In the summer time hit the ole swimm'in hole or catch a few fish in the local river or stream.
@@johnstudd4245 I am in those days,,in my mind! True words,,every last one!
Auto racks always seem to be rolling, been a lotta coal/coke trains moving past work. Thanks for the video
I see a lot of racks lately but I don't see much coal
@@JawTooth I work at that huge coke plant in west pa...we pushin coke like there's no tomorrow. We spot full cars on NS, on the road side and CSX cars on the river side, I see lots of coal trains, both full and empty walking the bridge over tracks on way in/out. We get our coal by river barge
This is a good reminder that when you are looking for a place to live you should take into consideration the route an emergency vehicle would need to take to get you from your house to a hospital.
There's an overpass half a mile to the north, which would normally be used. The only reason the ambulance got blocked in by the train was because it was on a training exercise down that gravel road to the river, and the exit to that road was blocked by traffic waiting for the crossing. That's not the normal situation.
Beautiful location, top notch live action, and personal recognition! Who could ask for more? Great video! Keep 'em rollin', son!
Thanks! Will do!
Fire Department doing "training": first thing they are "trained" about is that they have to jolly well wait until the "train" has passed.
Good thing that train was flying by
@@JawTooth yep it looks like it’s going 50 mph if not well
Very cool bridge, depot, fire rescue, CSX auto rack with DPU, and CSX double stack train JT! AWESOME video! Thanks for sharing and HAPPY 4th!
Good video jawtooth, happy 4th everyone
Wow! How long ..3 mile! Unbelievable as though riding into infinity. The 2nd freight train seemed more awesome. Thanks for the video.
Interesting location! Love it. All kinds of things going on❤
Good morning! Happy Independence Day!
Same to you! Happy 4th!!
Beautiful catch, loving it
Thanks a lot!
The autorack train had 146 cars and 2 engines, 13,815 feet long(2.6 miles). At max loading that would be 2190 autos, and minimum 1460. That's a lot of stuff for one train.
No worries, they were empty. They’re just moving them around to appear productive and give people work to do. Welcome to the DPRK, America Edition.
The same joke in two different videos. What a catch! Live action!
Yes it was the same day. I do need to get a newer vehicle some day though
@@JawTooth Hahaha! Just giving you a tough time. Keep the great content coming! And drive them until the wheels fall off!
🌄 Sunday breakfast with 🚂Jawtooth.🚂 Happy 🇺🇲 July 4th.🇺🇲 🇺🇲🇺🇲🚂🚂🇺🇲

You were only 17 driving miles from my house!
My roomies 90 y/o father watches your videos. Hes a Vietnam AF Vet. , very sharp , still drives, etc.
Awesome! I'm honored to have him watch my American train videos!
Thanks for all the great train videos. I hope you and your family are enjoying the 4th of July holiday.
Loved watching both of the trains, and the ambulance, especially since eldest son is a paramedic on our county ambulance service. A safe journey to the ambulance and train crews.
Here in Wis our local emergency dive team practices in the winter cutting a big hole in the ice. Cool 🥶 stuff!
Very cool!
Your videos are awesome and very clear!!✊🏾
I appreciate that!
That has to be some kind of record for train length. Wow over 2 miles. The hotbox detector said 392 axles, wow.
Lots of action in this one!
That boat was sure scooting along
That's a long train!! I had to yard a 14,000ft train last night. 4 units, 3 online, and one offline, 6 tracks, 50 freight cars and the rest intermodal.
wow! 14,000 feet is incredible! I couldn't imagine having to walk a train that long to check it out
@@JawTooth thankfully we didn't have to. It literally wrapped around the yard, and we had to get permission from the dispatcher to run around the main line just to get it to a lead track that would get us to our assigned yarding tracks. It took us three hours to yard it because of other trains moving in the yard. The other conductor and i threw at least 10 switches just to get it lined up for the first two tracks.
Trains bring out the best in us!🚂😁
Well done,JT!
Hice vídeo..
Awesome train!!!
Happy 4th July and Good bless América and the american people.
Grettings from Spain.
Thank you very much!
Smooth, slow camera panning. You & Son are getting good at this. Now a wind screen.
Very beautiful place !!!
Yes it was!
Please make more Thurmond videos. Be great to see passengers getting on/off an Amtrak train.
Cool video and happy 4.july JT! 😉👍
Thank you very much Mr. Jaw Tooth! And happy Independence Day!
Same to you!
I am a new subscriber to your channel. I live in Detroit, Michigan. Detroit is where the big 3 build automobiles. For Railroad companies, there is Canadian National, (CN)which bought Grand Trunk, (GT),CSX and Norfolk Southern which bought Conrail, and Union Pacific which comes from Chicago, Illinois and points West into Detroit, Michigan. Also, there is Amtrak Passenger Train Service from Pontiac, Michigan to Chicago, Illinois.
I'm planning on doing some filming up there soon. I found a cool crossing with 4 separate tracks each with its own railroad crossing signals.
@@JawTooth if where I think it is make sure you do the filming during the daytime hours LOL
Great video 🚄🚄 happy Independence day 🎆
Thanks! You too!
Love that freight depot, want to buy it. Great video.
Interesting boat trailer. Looks like they could carry two boats at a time. Double stack!
They had both boats on it
Just over 2.6 miles long.
That's a one hour walk for a conductor, EACH WAY 😀
When I’m driving I always pull over for the police ambulance and fire trucks it’s the right thing to do. Jaw Tooth 😌👍🏻✨ 🐈⬛
Fantastic conditions to catch trains in Miamisburg; we live nearby and frequently travel over that busy crossing. Nice captures on the river rescue training too! Nice work Jawtooth 👌
Thank you very much! That was my first time at the crossing on the west side of the river. I really like Miamisburg. That town has everything.
second train was double stacked fast there
Another great video with great interest to everyone’s interests.
Thanks again!
Nicely done
Thanks!
Great job
What a great way to spend the Fourth-boating on the Miami River.
in Troy, Ohio, my hometown!
Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸 !! Another great video 👍 with some fast moving freight 👍 !!
You sure are popular, how's it feel to be a celebrity?
man, that second train was BOOKIN’. maybe they were trying to break the Guinness World Record for fastest freight train. love the CSX executive grey paint scheme
The train's 1.7 miles long and it passes the crossing in 125 seconds, giving a speed of 49mph. Pretty normal speed for a fast freight.
Even though the train was 2.5 miles long, it had only one loco at the head and one DPU in the middle. This shows that the train was hauling empties going back to the vehicle distribution lots. The reason for the DPU is simply because the train is long. Yeah, one loco could have pulled the whole train, but it would put to much of a strain on the unit.
The loads and empties typically have the same number of locomotives on them, because they need to get the power back to the car factory to haul the next loaded train, apart from anything else. The next video JT posted showed another autorack train of the same length heading in the opposite direction and it also had one loco on the front and a DPU in the middle.
Nice update like it very much.
Thanks for the visit!
Hi Jaw Tooth. Great video as always. You pick the best spots to rail fan. Love your channel and the videos!!
Thank you very much!
That second train was really moving on.
Excellent video JT!! Happy 4th, and stay safe!
Thanks! You too!
Awesome video.
Thanks!
Congratulations
Great video with auto racks ....
Amazing video my friend! 👏👏👏
Emergency Vehicles need a overpass at train tracks as many cities an some towns have them
Medevac helicopters are expensive, but worth it at times.
@@sillyone52062 One smaller town i know has 7 overpass bridges cause many times a train do stop for mins at a time.
In Langley BC there are two Fire Stations less than 500 feet apart; one on each side of the train tracks!
@@stevebrewer3174 Galesburg, Illinois did just that for all of the train traffic going through every day.
@@sillyone52062 Smaller Towns don't have Medevac Helicopters an at least one or two over or underpass at railways would serve a good purpose.
Great video as usual. Keep the videos coming
Thanks! Will do!
Holy moly! 30km Train?!?
And to top that off the EMS has to wait for that to pass?
Only in the USA...
Wow! Lots of action going on there, Love it!! Happy July the 4th Jaw Tooth to you and your family!!
Thanks so much and Happy 4th Mary!
excellent shots👍 been along the road by the line quite a few road crossings great shots at hamstreet was there on the 9th june and charing saw it at Ashford
Cool, thanks!
This video should be the foundation for train length law
There's an overpass half a mile to the north that the fire department would normally use. The only reason the ambulance got blocked in by the train was because it was on a training exercise down that gravel road to the river, and the exit to that road was blocked by traffic waiting for the crossing. That's not the normal situation.
I love when you're in my old neck of the woods, Brian. Haven't been in Ohio since 2008. I lived in 3 different apts in the 90's when I worked for MetLife on SR 741. One was on the east side of Miamisburg just before I-75 & the other 2 were across from the MetLife building & Lexis-Nexus(sp?) in Washington Township (with a Miamisburg address). Got to see those giant planes from Wright-Patt AFB fly over--they looked like they were barely moving & too heavy to stay in the air. Made a lot of noise too. Born in Dayton, moved to Troy in 1962. Miss the sound of train horns. Loved the video you did on the east side of town where the houses are close to the track. Our Catholic church/school were just a block away on East Main St. My mother was from Dayton, Ky & her parents' family was mostly in Cincinnati with a few across from Coney Island.
Nice Green Grass there “Mr Jawtooth!
I love it!
148 autoracks on that train. That is the most autoracks I have ever seen on a single train. 137 cars on that double stack train. 2 awesome train catches. Nice catch of the ems training.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
So, with 148 autoracks that 15 vehicles per train, that means it was carrying 2,220 vehicles.
Bad time to buy anyway, I think. Maybe they're just taking the auto racks out for breather after all the restrictions hurting production
Some more great footage thanks jawtooth
More to come!
I like American long train. Today is 2.5mail thank you!
Thank you too!
Great video Jaw Tooth. Those trains were long. Makes our trains in the UK look a little pathetic!
they keep getting longer
Wow really cool video! Thanks!
