    It’s amazing how much it all looks the same as when I was there 21 years ago!

    My daughter and I walked from Asakusa to Tokyo Tower. It was a nice day in September. We just keep the tower in view and made our way through the neighborhood to the river and across the bridge. It was one of the most relaxing time in Tokyo.

      Not Skytree? To Tokyo Tower, that’s quite a walk! 🗼 20,000 steps

    The one thing that bothered me in Japan was how late many of the coffee shops open. I enjoy my coffee early in the morning!!

      Right, seems opposite to what the consumer wants 😂 I guess Japanese are thinking it’s a place to study outside the house? Most homes are small and lack privacy, quiet sometimes.

    I love Hakone too, but I think Nikko wins for me. You have beautiful shrines and beautiful nature there. Hakone is mostly beautiful nature and Fujisan view; there are a few shrines but not as amazing as Nikko.

      Hakone is like nature amusement parks

    I used your previously made video this June and went at 830 and it was very dead. Maybe a few hundred people. Great for photos. We would come back from a day of sightseeing and it would almost be shoulder to shoulder people. If you intend on going here, I'd get there at 9 or even earlier.

    Good afternoon.
    I know you know a lot, so I have a question about a specific hostel in asakusa.
    This hostel have a very odd shape building, very hard to find the entrance, and a bit complicated to go inside, because the building shape.
    I saw a review about it but I can't find it anymore.
    Super hip place to stay.
    I will be leaving Nikko on 18 to Kasanawa, but my aswell stay a few days in Tokyo .
    Daniel

    The FOMO vibes are building, time to book another trip!!! Being there for two weeks was definitely worth it to go to Asakusa twice but 6 days apart during the trip, and walking over to Asahi HQ to get a beer. However, their top floor beer hall looks to be under renovation for a while.

    @13:50 Never use those exchange machines. Not only are the exchange rates bad, but those machines are not reliable; if it takes your money and gets "stuck", e.g. not exchanging the yen back, you are f****d.
    You then need to dial some help line, where the connection is either bad or the voice on the other side is barely audible.
    Eventually you will get helped and your money delivered by the technician who needs to travel to that machine, or at your hotel. But the stress and precious time lost, is just not worth it.
    Go to a manned exchange office or had it exchanged beforehand at the airport. At least there should be personnel around to talk directly to and help you on the spot.

      They’re not big here and in fact, American fast food is not so popular except McD because they’ve been here since 1970s. Outside tourist centers, BK would not survive.

    Long time viewer here. Just a quick thing… I totally get why you are mentioning APA hotels and people are totally free to stay there of course.
    But a lot of people may not know that the owner of that chain is a history revisionist, promoting that Japan did nothing wrong during the war and even supplying fake info books in the hotels to try and spread that nonsense. Up to you if you want to support that.
    I’ll be visiting Japan in Nov for the third time and love it there and the people so it’s not politics or anything. Im an American of Korean descent and a history major to boot and what happened was at a different time with different standards. But saying nothing happened at all is not a good way to go about presenting history. Sorry for the soapbox rant.

    • @onlyinjapanGO
      @onlyinjapanGO  4 дні тому +1

      Thanks for this, I’ll answer with respect ^_^ I know the personality of the CEO, it’s odd, even for Japanese. You’re not wrong. She’s out there. But - Most people care about their own bottom line, not the owners politics. She’s just a figure head in a massive financial group that’s expanded APA in an intelligent way, you can disagree with someone and also stay at their hotel and if they treat guests well, they do - that’s the issue. Are people being turned away etc? No. There are wacky people everywhere, in position of power and wealth. Freedom of choice is up to my viewers on where they want to stay and overwhelmingly, the majority has stayed there and I’ve not heard any issues or had any myself.

    the overcrowding of tourists is making tokyo much less enjoyable. youre coming for tokyo and japanese - and youre getting millions of tourists around you. everything has to be scheduled in advance or tickets run out, and good restaurants have 1 hour waiting waiting line. shibuya sky? book a month in advance. golden gai? prepare to wait 2 hours for a seat. scramble starbucks - order to get in, wait 30 min to try get a standing window view

    • @corgansow6173

      Tokyo is huge, just go to places that are not tourist traps. And you don't need to go eat at restaurants that has 1 hour queues most likely they're overrated

    • @anon-tlv3399
      @anon-tlv3399 6 днів тому

      @@corgansow6173 it used to be that way but look at his Nikko live, or enoshima, they are all saturated. even non-tourist suburbs in central tokyo have waiting times and over congestion in metro stations. In some shotengai its hard to even walk. In donki stores you wait 30 min to pay at the cashiers with lines of 50-100 people
