This works well if the bottom player is controlling the knee, cupping it and keeping it turned in and light, which prevents putting your weight on it. If they aren’t doing that then it’s way easier to put your weight on that foot and use another style of escape, like kicking the leg around the head and turning, or grabbing the farside sleeve and high stepping, or controlling the inside hook and back stepping, etc…
Love this video and been working this today. However getting a bit stuck if my partner has a trouser grip rather than grabbing around the shin. Can this still work?
The problem i see is the opponenet is not going to just let go of your right leg to let you fall into leg drag. A double x guard done properly over the shoulder is going to be very tight.
Brown belt here, Tried the move its a bit tricky but getting it on a few blue/ purple belts, the higher belts try to stand up off the x guard if i stay standing too long but you can definitely dive for the leg drag. its one of those techniques you have to do off a scramble. of course if the bottom person has tight grips then transition to something else. :) safe rolls!

after drilling this and trying in rolling I have come to the same conclusion. Even worse is over the shoulder with a pant grip aswell
