    Thanks for this great tutorial, Jan, & thank you especially for your easily printable pattern. I have made several eye pillows as gifts, but I really like the dimensions of your eye pillows, & your easy to follow instructions. I do add essential oils to the mix, usually lavender & zen. I mix everything together in a bowl & then spoon into my funnel & into the inner bag. My husband & I both use eye pillows nightly as we fall asleep. He sets his aside as he falls asleep. I find that even if my eye pillow falls to the side when I am sleeping, I still benefit from the lavender scent and continue to sleep well for the rest of the night. Again, thank you so much!

    I use dry lavender buds as well. Essential oils can make little ones quite ill. Despite the "natural ingredients" in the oils, they're also filled with ingredients to sustain their aroma. It can also make adults sick. Keep with the dried seeds and leaves, depending on what you use. Oils can also make your grains tainted with molds and other decomposition issues. 😊

    Hello Jan. I am currently in the process of making these. What a great gift idea! I do have one question....some people stated putting essential oil in the inner bag mix. Does that stain the inner bag/outer cover? Especially when heating in the microwave? I would like to make sure they keep nicely.

    • @JanHowell
      @JanHowell  2 роки тому

      Hi Ashley, you can put essential oils in the bags by placing several drops on a cotton ball, but you want to make sure the oil itself doesn't have a color to it. Some oils will stain the liner. If I use essential oils, I just place a few drops on the cover, or my hands first then rub it in the cover. That way if it does stain or gets dirty, you can wash the cover or even eventually make a new cover.

    • @JanHowell
      @JanHowell  10 місяців тому

      I would just apply the oil to the outer fabric. If you add it to the flax seeds themselves, it may make the seeds go rancid after a time.

    • @JanHowell
      @JanHowell  3 роки тому

      The lavender scent will last a LONG time. Years in fact. When it starts to loose the scent, just squish the contents with your hands and it releases the scent again. I add them separately just for convivence. I store them separately so to save a step, I just add them this way.

    • @JanHowell

    • @JanHowell

      I have never tried lentils, but from what I hear, they work very well. You may want to heat some up in the microwave to see if you like the smell. Some grains and beans have a very distinct smell that is either ok or not ok. I think they hold the heat well and would conform well to the face. If you try it, please share.

      Eye pillows can be microwaved starting at 10-second intervals until heated to your liking.
      They can also be put in the freezer for cold therapy.
