I remember there was a choice I had to make between Netflix and Hulu, both had streaming but only Netflix had the dvd option, so I went with Netflix because I was used to physical media from being a blockbuster member. That was the early 2000s I still have Netflix but I have enough streamers and have never joined Hulu, Disney.
@groundfloorinnovation yep. And then 2015? My mom called and was like we don't know what to do the video store closed. So I got her a subscription to Netflix DVDs. Which they really loved. I think it's going now though. I know we don't use it anymore and she's finally on streaming. Unfortunately her connection is only 4 megabytes down or less

I was pretty late to the party, only did DVDs for a couple of years before the Wii disk came out. That started the streaming for me.
I will say, there was a real sense of occasion when those red envelopes showed up in the mail.

I didn’t realize Hulu went that far back. There was something comforting about having physical media as an option back in the early 2000s.
