I too had a road trip routing like this. Took US 13 to check out the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and stopped in Norfolk for a new rental car. Then continued on US 58 to Emporia to get to I-95. Stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Rocky Mount for breakfast. Then US 64 to get to the Research Triangle. We then took I-40 to US 52 in Winston-Salem and followed that to "I-74" to get to I-77. We saw the famous wrong way concurrency and stopped in Southwest Virginia to see more family. Then followed I-81 to I-66 to get home to the DC/Bmore area
That's a good road trip. Kind of reminds me of driving from Fort Lauderdale Area, Turnpike through Orlando, I-75 stopped at motel just north of FL GA border. Drove through Atlanta, I-85 to I-985 through Gainesville to GA 17 to a town called Helen. Drove US 123 through Clemson to Greenville and stopped at Motel there. Drove through the Smokeys from there US 25 to US 23 to Cherokee. Then US 441. Checked out Klingman's done and Parson's corner. Drove US 321 through Pigeon Forge stop at motel. To 441 to Blue Ridge Parkway to I 26 to Charleston. Stop at B&B. Back to I-26 to I-95 to St. Augustine, then A1a and get stuck on beach lol. Then take A1A to Daytona then back to I-95 back to FTL.
Amazing video Todd!!! All of us roadgeeks would like to thank you and your wife for doing us a service by going on a roadtrip of a lifetime, showing us all the beauty of our great nation and it's great roads! Until next time, keep on trucking. :) 👍
I’m done with my summer road trip around the country. For each highway stretch I incorporated into my loop, I’m going to comment on my observations regarding mileage signs and interchange overheads on that highway’s appropriate video. The videos that I will be commenting on are I 4, I 5 Southbound, I 8, I 10 Eastbound, I 41, I 43, I 75 Southbound and Northbound (separate stretches, though), I 90 Westbound, I 91, I 93, I 94 Eastbound and Westbound (again, separate stretches, but overwhelmingly westbound), and I 95. One thing I must say before I (gradually) go back to the older videos is that during this trip, I seemed to always be in (relative) close proximity to recent events throughout July of 2024. On July 8, the hurricane hit the Texas Gulf Coast in the early morning hours while I was sleeping at a rest stop in El Paso. The driving of that day involved trucking across the desert and Hill Country to about an hour short of Houston. As a result, I was never in any danger of encountering any bad weather. Perhaps craziest of all, on July 13, I was having an evening meal in Erie before reaching my rest stop for the night just short of Cleveland. It was about 6 PM local time, and I was only an hour and a half north of the location of a certain event that, not to sound dramatic, was a quarter of an inch away from sending the entire country into total chaos…
3:07 That is a great pic Todd!!! Very pretty with the mountains in the distance, along with the clouds and the sunlight coming through the clouds as well. Pure eye candy! :)
When i drove the "80/76 West to Denver, 25 South to Las Cruces, 10 West" route from Chicago to Tucson .... i regrettably didn't have time (nor funds) to take a day detour to drive 70 West through the Rockies ... i gotta make that a bucket list excursion. even if i fly into Denver and add 2 days just for that purpose
For the all requests video, I'd like to see exit 446 on US-95 Northbound in Idaho. You should be able to see a nice view of Silverwood Theme Park from the exit. I missed my chance in the original US-95 video.
Thanks! I do plan to do northbound US 95 relatively soon, for one of the Chiefs-Raiders games. I could run this request in the 95 north ep if you prefer. US 95 North will probably happen like 2 weeks after the request show.
Basically it's a bucket list thing for me to go from Vegas to Denver. I 70 through the western ski towns is one of the most scenic highways in the country .
Awesome road tripping video, with a tiny bit of rail fanning thrown in for good measure! One of my “bucket list” trips is to drive to most of those places you’ve shown here. I have flown over the Rocky Mountains before (which was amazing). But I also think I would be gawking too much at all the beautiful scenery and not paying attention to the roads, and get in a wreck! 🤪
Enjoyed this video! Going to have to some brainstorming for exit requests for the All-Request Video because you covered my I-41 exits in the US-41 Video.
My ultimate road trip will always be Route 66. But that's from Virginia to California. I'll start somewhere in Illinois. But awesome video I enjoyed that.
@ControlCityFreak Oh yeah, but I live closer to route 50. Winchester area. When I drove from Winchester VA to. St. Louis I ended up taking 70 Most of the way. But it took me some cool back roads, though that I've never been on. Plus that was the first time I ever went through Ohio. But this was back in 2017 But it was a pretty cool road trip.
9:24 Ah yes, the Virgin River Gorge, this is Arizona's equivalent to Glenwood Canyon, I don't which is prettier, but both are definitely GORGEous, if you know what I mean.
This is a bucket list trip I want to take. Driving my Impala from Michigan to Colorado and Utah is pretty much out of the question, so Plan B will be fly to Denver and just drive west, at least through the San Rafael Swell. On the way there I want to take Utah Highway 128 into Moab coming from Grand Junction, CO. And Glenwood Springs is high on my list, especially swimming in the springs right off I-70. But I understand motels in Moab cost an arm and a leg.
We stayed at the Days Inn, was maybe $100 and we booked pretty last minute. Glenwood Springs itself had insanely high hotel prices but we camped there instead.
Glenwood Canyon, San Rafael Swell and Virgin River Gorge are definitely top 10 interstate views easily. Coming from me who has very few miles of new interstate to see, mostly along the Canadian border. Too bad you didn't go over Apex Summit at night, the view of topping the hill and seeing Vegas is pretty amazing
hey todd, side note you might want to remake the I 11 video as it was extended north through the las vegas metro all the way to the northwestern corner of the valley (at least when the street view finally updates with new signs)
Interstate 11 was recently extended throughout the whole of the Vegas metro, replacing 515 entirely, so you'll probably have to do an update video on that. Also, other content creators are hesitant to do the entirety of US-6 because they think that's something you're going to do.
Todd found Limon! Did you like that sign saying minium speed on the approach to the Eisenhower tunnel? The mirage casino closed... It will be a hard rock in 2027 and then a star bucks
Question: State Street in SLC ends at the Utah State Capitol a few blocks north of where US 89 turns off of it. Could I request the Capitol on your US 89 video, or should I request it for your all requests video the state highway that’s there?
In the summer of 2015, I drove from LA to DC for a one-year job. The first segment, LA-Vegas, was hard to enjoy because of traffic. The second, Vegas to Denver, was probably the most beautiful 750 miles I have ever driven. The third, from Denver to Columbus, was maybe the dullest 1250 miles I have ever driven (sorry). The last, from Columbus to DC, was very nice. One striking thing about the drive was the absence of traffic between Las Vegas and Hagerstown, Maryland. Most of the US is still pretty empty.

That sounds awesome! I haven't driven any of that other than 81 and 66.
6:08 Wow, Glenwood Canyon sure is a big and beautiful!!! The people who built this road thru it were indeed engineering geniuses!
The best part of 70 🎉
I would like to go there one day

Would I-295 in DE, NJ, and PA be something that you'd cover in the future? Want to make sure I save the request if it would be!
Yeah I’ll definitely do that one at some point. Possibly 2025 next time Chiefs play Eagles

Beautiful scenery Todd 💯💯💯💯💯💯
The San Rafael Swell looks like something on Mars, it just looks so out of this world, both literally and figuratively.

It's awesome!
Hi, my request for the All Requests is I-80 Nebraska exit 454/13th Street, which is closest to where I grew up. Thank you 😊 - Christy
Thanks, you got it!
Hell yeah brother. This was totally awesome. Let’s go 70 west Vegas. Also I’d definitely wear a Control City Freak shirt.
Enjoyed this video! Going to have to some brainstorming for exit requests for the All-Request Video because you covered my I-41 exits in the US-41 Video.
I drove through Glenwood Canyon BEFORE I-70 was built through the canyon (US 6). I said NO WAY this could be built. Yet it was.
The Interstates between Denver and Vegas may be the most scenic Interstate there is.
"Jackass Joe's. Gas was like $7 a gallon here, jackass indeed!" - Todd, CCF 2024
Amazing video
Since you asked, yes, I had thought you went to Limon just to make a video about Limon.
My guess when the NFL season starts you will be doing roads near where the Chiefs play (or who the Chiefs play)
I will indeed
Anyone else expecting to see Andre or Roman from TFL hit the stopwatch just before entering the Eisenhower Tunnel?
My ultimate road trip will always be Route 66. But that's from Virginia to California. I'll start somewhere in Illinois. But awesome video I enjoyed that.
That's 60, 66 starts in Illinois so you could do it all!

A highway system you should do is the highway 200s as they combined together stretch for over 1000 miles
Was in Vegas just hours ago
Awesome
All request ep. - Long Is. Expy exit 61, my home exit. I think you'll like the control cities there too.
Thanks, you got it!
@@ControlCityFreak Second time's a charm
I see you are doing IN 16 soon. Being a Hoosier I'm intrigued to know what is significant about this highway.
He said in one of his I-65 videos that it was the most boring road in the state, almost feels like it should be an April Fool's episode.
@@ianb9851 oh thanks. I'll go check it out
Since you brought up the reboot of I-10, my request is exit 220 is where it heads towards my hometown of Houma. Just letting you know.

When will you do I-278
Chiefs play the Giants next year, maybe then
hey todd, side note you might want to remake the I 11 video as it was extended north through the las vegas metro all the way to the northwestern corner of the valley (at least when the street view finally updates with new signs)
Will for a Raiders game
Ever thought of doing videos of all Business Routes for a single US Hwy or Interstate?
I have a little bit, my westbound 52 vid followed every business route
Interstate 11 was recently extended throughout the whole of the Vegas metro, replacing 515 entirely, so you'll probably have to do an update video on that. Also, other content creators are hesitant to do the entirety of US-6 because they think that's something you're going to do.

Yeah that's a bummer, Mirage has been there forever.

Did you see Limon?
He did a year ago. That was on the way to doing this video, all at the same time.

@@ControlCityFreak Sorry to mislead--I did that part in two days. I was just saying that the whole stretch was not very interesting.
Been meaning to ask, when you went to Limon last year, did anyone who watched the channel there recognize you?
No but I wasn’t out of the car much
@@ControlCityFreak Smart move.
13:26 - If only Mexican Hat, AZ greeted you with an actual Mexican Hat. LOL.
The question everyone wants to know is did you visit your favorite city in America, Limon? 😂
Todd recounted his visit to Limon in a previous video.
This is a continuation of the trip he took to Limon about a year ago.
Limon is still haunting you... Lol😅!!
I can see why you call I 70 the most beautiful interstate highway to drive...
Hi control city freak nice video, btw first
