GLORYHAMMER has more lore in their songs than everything George R.R. Martin ever wrote. There is an ENTIRE universe they created, Time travel, Space wizards, Unicorns, Unicorn Zombies, Enchanted Jetpacks. If you want another accessible do their self titled track if you want to jump off the deep end, then "The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee", or "Universe on Fire".
Power Metal was basically created by Iron Maiden and Ronnie James Dio, but its roots go back to composers like Bach and even Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.
I recommend the documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and Metal Evolution.

"valhalleluja" by Nano Steel of War has a cameo of Angus McFife from Glory hammer. Definitely a hilarious song
"Hoots, mon" is apparently a Scottish greeting, kinda like "what's up man?" Because everything about Gloryhammer is Scottish for some reason, they have a barbarian character named the Hootsman who... well... he's got backstory and frontstory. He's extremely important in the second and third albums but it really helps to listen in order.

'Hoots!' or 'Hoots, man!' is a sort of comical Scottish expletive, that the scottish never actually say.
The band is Scottish (although the lead singer here isn't), and have a mythical hero called the 'Hootsman.'
It's part of a musical story line of songs by Gloryhammer. Following the tales of the flying submarine called DSS Hootsforce. Gloryhammer was inspired by epic tales of sci-fi. Stuff like Dune and all that. So they are telling a story through their music and it seriously plays out like something from the 80's or sci-fi pulp novels.
😂😂😂 Gloryhammer! That takes me back man. I saw Gloryhammer play in a pub in Newcastle (the Australian one) years ago.
Maybe this has been said in the comments already but hootsforce is something they came up with. the submarines you see flying in space are called the hootsforce dss and the song is about how the forces of justice using the submarines to hunt zargothrax (the evil wizard) and proletius (the evil sorcerer) to the battlefield of cowdenbeath where they after the song have a battle which is described by the song fires of ancient cosmic destiny

Power metal originated in the early 1980s in Europe and USA and was started Ronnie James Dio. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_metal The scene grew out of the NWOBHM scene ( New wave of British heavy metal ). Napalm Records are located in Austria.
Gloryhammer tells the Story of their own universe. The Hootsforce is the resistance against the evil wizard zargothrax. The name comes from the god HOOTS.
The Story is realy absurd and apsolutly epic. You have to dive in the Story to understand it all.
This is just one of those fun songs. In the same realm Nanowar of Steel "Vallhallauah" Another Napalm FEUERSCHWANZ ft. Melissa Bonny - Ding (a Seed cover) they are a medieval rock band. II think you need to do anything with Melissa Bonny. Great female singer. She was the singer of Rage of Light. Another fun one to check out dArtagnan - C'est la vie. They describe themselves as musketeer rock. They lead singer also plays in FEUERSCHWANZ.
No idea if you are aware, but the keyboard/synthesiser circle thingie player is the lead vocalist of Alestrom.
YAAAAAAAAAAAS!!! Been hoping for some Gloryhammer for a while. They're so much fun and their previous album was my Hellfire Citadel raid soundtrack. On the topic of power metal and Power Rangers, check out Legend of the Powersaurus by Victorius. It's just as awesome as it sounds.
There were many people and bands who contributed to the birth of power metal as we know it today but to see the man who truly solidified it singularly, you must look to Ronnie James DIO.

To answer one of your questions, power metal grew out of the speed metal scene. If you compare the two you can see the influence and how it kinda evolved.
