These are great strategies and very tactical. Another tactic is people watch. I once sat in front of a Starbucks during their peak rush hour and counted how many people came, what age group they were in, what they ordered and who they were with to get an idea of who the target customer was. It was really eye opening to watch people's purchasing habits.

@@ajelliott3496 You can't wait for "the future".
      1. You never know when you're gonna die, it could be tomorrow.
      2. You won't get anywhere just by making ideas, you actually have get out there and do something.
      3. The sooner you start, the better.

You need to enter the matrix to then escape it. Realise that reality. Money can’t come from no where. Don’t get complacent and stay saving. I dropped out of uni (22) and am doing that. I’m working in retail so I know how to deal with customers and realise customer needs . I’ve now got about 10k in dollars saved up (not even 1 year) and I’m now looking to create my own business to then leave work to focus on becoming an entrepreneur full time. Let’s stay winning and hungry💪🏽

I’ve taken multiple financial university classes and psychology and multiple classes at mit. I’m 16 and my oldest brother has a car company and wants me to help come up with ideas. If it goes well I’m gonna move across the state to live with him. It’s not only abt cars it’s equipment and what not. I just don’t know what I can bring to the table not the other members in the group

Dan, thank you so much for this video! I watched a few of your videos so far, and I have to say, you definitely provide a lot of value, for the time invested in watching. For myself, and many others in the intended audience for this video, we often are stuck in a state of overwhelm in the idea phase. You do a great job of breaking down something that may seem complex, into easy to understand actionable steps. Thank you! My current situation is trying to escape a 10 year career with the same company, in the auto insurance industry (auto damage estimator). I'm very detail oriented, great customer service, empathetic, care more about quality over quantity, good communication, I'm an awesome husband too (just ask my wife Sarah :-) Any thoughts on how I could apply these skills in a business or other field? Thanks Dan!
    Tom

Tom, thanks for the kind words and back story. I would love to help but my gift is helping companies scale / no so much the early days as for me that was soo long ago.
However, email my buddy Pedram, that's his gift. He's a great friend (we just spent 3 days together in Toronto) and mention my name. Pedram Daraeizadeh
      How that helps.

Thank you very much for your reply. I like how you use the word "gift" to describe how you and Pedram best help others! I completely understand, I hope that maybe I'll need your help in the future then! I appreciate the contact info for your buddy Pedram, I will reach out to him. Thanks again!

Hey Dan, i have been watching a ton of your videos, but i have one issue that keeps coming back... Coming up with ideas.
I have tried a couple of businesses (shopify, print on demand, Amazon fba) and every time i keep running into the same problem. How to come up with a good idea.
Even after watching this video i have questions about ideas.
Do i have to be an expert in any field to start a software company? Right now I'm in sales and i dont have a lot of experience in that field yet.
So I look for excisting saas products and try to improve that(i would not know how to do that since i dont use SaaS myself right now)
I want to do something meaningful and now come up with some crappy idea, focus on that and finding out that nobody wants to use that software.
How do i pick a niche for the software. Lots of 'gurus' tell to look for problems you run into yourself, but i must say, i dont have a lot (or i dont see them)
Do you do brainstorm sessions or have think tanks with other like minded people and if so how do i find those people.
I would love to get a little help here.

      What's up!
Truth is, you need to flex your idea muscle to come up with the right business ideas ... right now it's weak :)
The way to do that is force yourself to come up with 10 business ideas each day for a week.
Regardless how dumb they are, come up with them.
Just go through life and look for friction.
      Answer the question "What if?..."
What if the mechanic came to you (ex: YourMechanic.com - I'm an investor)
What if we could rent our cars like Airbnb (ex: GetAround.com - I'm an investor)
What if we didn't need a programmer to create a landing page (ex: Unbounce.com - I'm an investor)
I'm not telling you that to show off ... I'm just telling you that because ideas are cheap, execution is everything and when you finally make money, you can invest in other peoples ideas if you're good at assessing them.
      So go do some reps!
