With how detailed the rest of the ship is, the shield generator looks a little plain and clean. Maybe add some cables or wires on it. Could say it's an "emergency shield over boost" by being able to shunt all of the reactors' power to deflector shields.
I mean, I salute him for his effort. But the originals design doesn't lend itself to any paintjob. It reminds me if this guy I knew in high school had gotten hold of 6,000 cans of spray paint and a YT-1300 freighter instead of a 3 cases of spray paint and a 1972 Datsun mini truck. It looked cool for about a week. I kind of like to imagine this would be Bobby's ride now that he has become one with the force.
