The "Cork & Kerry mountains" is not the actual name of a mountain range that can be found on a map -- it's just a line from the song "whiskey in the jar". When the train is passing Banteer and you face south, you're probably looking at the Boggeragh mountains.
Yes very true but technically as we pass down from Mallow, Cork, towards Killarney, the mountains are both in the County of Cork and extended onto Kerry, so the mountains are in both County.☘ 👍
Greetings from Manchester U.K. - I’ve lived here 21 years at age 52, but I’m originally from Dunshaughlin Co Meath, where I still have extended family and still proudly hold (and renew) an Irish Passport - I come over on SailRail via Holyhead and my last visit was in October 2022 for my 52nd birthday celebrations in a luxury Dublin hotel as my 50th was in U.K. lockdown - I’ve never been to Killarney but I’ve been to Cork by train many years ago - I’ve had a family friend who was a Nun from Killorglin and another family friend who ran a B&B in Dunshaughlin was a Kerrywoman who married a Meathman, including for many years after his passing well into her 80’s but Covid changed a lot for her health wise 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
I love Killarney and especially the National Park, just a heads up - anywhere close to the lake you'll encounter annoying midges and horsefly's! For a decade in the 90's I spent my annual holidays working with a conservation group (Groundwork) clearing invasive Rhododendron from the native oak forests within the Park. It was tough hard work but so rewarding to work so close to nature - A world away from living in Dublin
Thanks for the comments great train jouney no doubt. The stew was in Kenmare O' Connors bar a bit away from Killarney, but I can recommend the stonechat bar in Killarney, great traditional Irish grub 👍
I love questions 👍I can answer this from experience on Irish rail travel multiple times on multiple lines first class seats are what we call city gold class not much of a difference but a difference nonetheless there is more leg room (2) seats have extra cushion and lumbar support and these first class carriages are not as crowded and stuffy on busy weekends.I hope this answers your question 👍☘️
@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise Thanks for your reply. Hope the Irish Railway can add number marks (1&2) on the livery of the carriage to make the difference more evident from the outside.
@@Y_YUE I agree Irish rail need to offer more information about carriages, and First class should have meals, as much extras as the joint partnership with Northern Irish rail on the Dublin to Belfast anyway enjoy your trip👍
Hi, when did this direct service start? Surprised they are using this train which is only used on the cork route, the mark 4 train. This is a big change moving this to kerry... right? Thanks any info appreciated.
This direct service started around 2 months ago,Yes it provides a faster service and without the need to change train's in Mallow, Cork.I can see Irish rail extending this direct service more times of the day as line improvements progress. In addition, the mark 4 is not used on every journey and sometimes the first class carriages are leather upholstery with seat light so the class 22000 is used also. Thanks for your question and hope it proves useful to your travel experience. 👍
Thank you so much for sharing!
Your more then welcome 🤗
About time there was a direct service from Dublin to Killarney.

Heuston Station Previously known as Kingsbridge Station until 1966 rather than Knightsbridge Station as you say on VIDEO….

Thanks for your story, I hope this video inspired you to visit Killarney, and its magnificent surroundings☘
I wish this had been available 5 years ago. I had to switch trains in Mallow to get from Killarney to Dublin.
I do agree it is very annoying having to change at Mallow, Irish rail will be extending this service in the near future and not before time 🤞👍

Great video. It has inspired me to make the trip myself by train. Where did you pick up that stew from?

Super Journey you Filmed!😃.
Thank you very much!
Nice video. Go ahead Sir.😂😂😂
May I ask how can you differ the 1st and 2nd class carriage from outside? The livery looks similar.

the former name is kingsbridge station .
Hi yes that's correct the Station used to be called Knightsbridge station in 1838 👍
@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise the info I have is it opened in 1846 as kingsbridge .never heard of knightsbridge -which is a different spelling.
@@MRPAD744 Your right it is kingsbridge 🙈🤣 thanks for the info I can correct this in the description page. 💚
You can search high and low but you will not find a luggage trolley at Heuston station. B
You've a midland accent.
