yes those robotic announcements. annoying. but interesting it said barangaroo, would services ever terminate there i dont think so? i wonder why they used that as a test?
Thanks Phil, it's amazing to be able to keep up to date with everything in Sydney, a year after coming back to the UK after my exchange semester at Sydney Uni. You may remember I randomly bumped into you at the Three Sisters in Katoomba one time while I was there haha! STV got me excited for the transport in Sydney before I flew out there, and it's keeping me in the loop with the big changes now that I'm back home.
I'm so glad to hear you've mosty shaken off the flu Phil. Thanks for update, coffee ticked off on bingo card.... 😂 Quite a feeling travelling under the harbour in 3 minutes, so I'm told. 😊.
Good video phil at central station for the Sydney metro line at Bankstown to sydenham, chatswood and tallawong ❤❤ LOVE IT KEEP GOING making video's good luck
Be good to see the new metro train going to sydney late september doctor appointment . Have seen so many changes in sydney from the late 1970s to now . All the new trains and the lightrail now the metro. From the old red rattlers to the new double decker trains. All the new buses as well. Would come to sydney spent time with my dear late nan and pop and family. Over the school holidays . Back in the 1996s when the second last sydney royal show at moore park.
11 CCN stations are being upgraded for D Set introduction over the first weekend of August during trackwork. New markers and balises being moved to support ASDO. Planning docs point to V sets being around until 2025/26. CCN will be the first to get the D Sets followed by BMT and SCO being at the latter stage of the 2025/26 upgrade plans with media sources and some politicians citing the need for works to be completed on those two lines. Going by some leaks, October/November 2024 CCN will see the first services. Whether this is staggered or an all at once (doubtful) switch for those V sets on CCN is unknown. Some rumors had Oscars running alongside D's during the initial CCN rollout for reliability concerns and once they have achieved the targets would see Oscars begin either conversion to Suburban config (i.e. G set style) or put directly in to replace K's. Someone mentioned elsewhere that the freeing up of some Oscars could be used to increase SCO services to align with the timetable changes due this year. One would hope for some actual transparency by TfNSW on what will actually happen. Outside of the planning docs we're getting told nothing, having to rely on media, rumors' and rail notices just. 4 years late and if the 2025/26 time frame is correct the D's are just one disappointment after another in terms of planning.
D's on the BMT not until 2025/26, with planning docs indicating the V's will be with us (BMT) until then? I hope the planning docs are incorrect and yes, you are correct, the D's are just one disappointment after another terms of planning. Strong supporter of designing and manufacturing our trains domestically as evident by the Tangara's back in the 80's. Design, manufacture and on the tracks within 2 years, all done domestically.
@@teejay5295 Planning Proposals 1) Mariyung Fleet: Rail Infrastructure Upgrades- Signalling, overhead wiring and lighting upgrades Timeframe Mid 2024 - expected to be completed in 2026. 2) Proposal name Mariyung Fleet: Rail Infrastructure Upgrades - Car Markers and Balise groups Timeframe Mid 2024 - expected to be completed in 2026. "The work is planned to commence mid-2024 . Typically works at a single work site would occur for a short period, before moving to the next work site." and "The installation of balises and in some cases, car markers, is required to be undertaken on the track and must be completed under work site protection measures (e.g. track work authority) and/or during scheduled track possessions.." With the need for possession at a large number of stations for both proposals to be completed, say for stations that can not already take a full 10 car D, and the fact that the work is only JUST starting now it lends credence to the leaks earlier on in the year that BMT/SCO are going to be implemented after CCN. So far no information on BMT/SCO upgrades has been announced, while CCN have. It doesn't hurt the Gov to provide an update to the public outlining the next say 6 months of the D set program. Even a basic timeline showing what has been completed, what is planned and a rough guide of when things will be done would go a long way to address the public interest in wtf is going on and how after 4 years we are getting nowhere and why the works are only JUST starting now. They agreed to the changes before the last election, they had all this time to do these track works, the length of the damn trains hasn't changed so there was no reason to not do the new markers and balises AHEAD of time and test them while the tested the modifications to the trains themselves. Its just a joke that is no longer funny, it just sad :(
@@teejay5295 I had replied to your message outlining what was known about the schedule but it looks like it was hidden by the channel. No idea why the channel decided to censor what is going on with the planning.
Hey Phil, thoroughly enjoyed this look at the reconfiguration, but can you at one stage give us a taste of what the terminal looks like during the day. Would like to see the level of activity say in a half hour window. Vloggers seem to just show a deserted station.
There’s been some changes on the metro concourse as of 31/7- the hording around the lift to the metro platforms have come down. Also the M lollipops have been uncovered
Hi Phil, I have heard that the Metro extension opening will be 4/8/24. Not sure when the Parramatta Light Rail will open. Hopefully, it is not on the same day. Amazing how the commercials are timed. You were heading across to see how progress was going with the track laying at upper Central and as you zoomed in, two commercials broke in. Talk about being held in suspense!!! Sorry to hear about your recent dose of flu. There is a lot of it around at the moment. Anyway, thanks again for the tour around Central station. Take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
I'm glad you're over your flu, Phil. You really should've asked for a day or two off work to give your body a little bit of rest. I know that you have trouble sitting still for too long though.
I made a bet and said on my blog and vlog that the metro extension may be pushed back again from the 4th Aug opening due to the malfunction the other day on the existing metro line and I also said that I bet the Parramatta Light Rail amd metro line will end up opening at the same time. Let's see if this happens. D sets ? when's the xpt going to be replaced?.?...
Do you think they will eventually do away with the text to speech announcements? Given the money they’ve spent on this project these announcements are an absolute embarrassment!
