Nothing better to hunt n gather fresh produce and food . You have the best time , it cost nothing but time & the price 4 the net & 8 fresh flounders would cover the cost of that net so you've got your money bk in the first few drags, Tangaroa /Ocean delicacy 4 sure.
Used to do this when we were younger then they banned it in South Australia Good effort guys drag netting is one of those things your either on the fish or your not Cheers from Aus
Flounder are not deep water fish, they like stay in a shallow water. If you guys try shallower and keep one end closer to the land maybe about 1ft or so and the deeper end on an 45 degree angle to the direction you pulled toward. When fish try to run away to the deeper then they will catch on the net.
They catch them on trawlers much further out so it just comes down to the day.some days you kill it.other days are a waste of time and they stay out deeper.like any fishing.its luck if your there when they are
I second this. Another tip is as you're coming back create a belly by walking towards each other. One stays slightly closer to the shore. Surf beach flounder like to stay shallow and follow the break in.
Great to see this sort of hunter/gathering stuff and how people try to put food on the table. Cheers for sharing
