I must admit, I was expecting that rear quarter to be full of filler but perhaps not that much!! Reminds me of one that Grant had on his channel several years ago. Your certainly doing the right thing in cutting it all out, it will not be an easy fix.
OMG!! I cannot believe that for the sake of about £40 someone has whacked tiger seal or filler in there instead of putting new brackets on. Unbelievable
Whoever rubbed that filler down knows bodywork to get it looking half decent to the eye but thats were it ended. What a pity they never learnt how to beat dints out a bit better. Cant remember the last time i seen pop rivets holding a wing to a wheel arch, clearly dosnt know how to weld either or mask off wiring . I wonder if a car vertical check would show pics of previous damage (everybody raves about car vertical) it would be interesting to see original damage before the sculptor got at it.
It's in better conditions the white one (parts car) than this, hopefully there is any profit on this one considering the amount of paint, body work and labor involved to get it repaired properly.

That filler job takes me back to the mark one Escort days when people filled holes with news paper and a bucket full of filler . That's a deffo job done by Mr Bodgit n Mr Scarper

that needs the full panel. less work than you going to do.gets cut half way up window. through sill the rest is just spot welds. if he welds lenth of panel it will buckle with heat. and need loads of filler again. he should of told you this
Mate that needs a complete new 1/4 cut the whole thing off any other thing is not a safe car

By the time you try and patch a piece in it'll probably be easier to change the whole quarter

Afraid to say a full rear quarter is the only way to repair it properly. Cutting half a panel in is a bodge!
Cutting in half a panel would be weaker than the bodge it needs a full 1/4 panel

Definitely needs a complete rear quarter. Salvage Rebuilds have done one if you want to get some tips.

I think it would be easier, cheaper, and a much better job to just chop in a complete rear quarter.
Easier to put a full quarter panel on than half a quarter panel. And half is just another bodge 🤦🏻♂️
