    As a Brit it saddens me to say that I find so much of todays music in the British and American music markets to be boring and very predictable. It has been a joy to see and hear how fresh and exciting the music has been coming from the Nordic countries in recent years. In addition to Eivør, and to repeat some the names already mentioned, I think you would both really enjoy hearing something from the following artists/bands: Aurora, Susanne Sundfør, Anne Von Hausswolff, Agnes Obel, Dirty Loops, Wardruna, and my favourite band at the moment, Kalandra. Kalandra’s singer/songwriter, Katrine (Ka-treena) Stenbekk, is every bit the equal of her fellow Norwegian Aurora. Listen to their brilliant live cover of Wardruna’s ‘Helvegen’, or the beautiful ‘Slow Motion’, or the Aldous Huxley inspired ‘Brave New World’.

      It's not a huge number, but most of my favourite non-metal artists are from Nordic countries and they all sing in their native tongue, which I prefer, since it makes them sound more authentic - IMO. May I ask if you have heard of Mari Boine, Kari Bremnes and Gåte from Norway, Garmarna, Hedningarna and Två Fisk och en Fläsk (the latter are defunct and most likely super-obscure) from Sweden or Gjallarhorn from Finland (but singing in Swedish)?

      @MissLoonasSpeech Рік тому +1

      @@stever7732 That might make it more interesting. I just hope you won't randomly pick one of the least interesting songs for the initial introduction, though what is interesting is, of course, always subject to personal preference. Just be aware that there might be songs which are not necessarily representative of the style of the artist in concern, but I assume you already know that you can't judge an artist just by one single song - maybe unless you really dislike the voice.

    Yes she is one of the Great Singing Goddesses of the Northern Wind! Angel...did you say Angel? Wanna meet another Singing Goddess try our angel Angelina Jordan. I listen to both Eivør and Angelina, but Angelina is part of my daily food group. I will let you pick a song blindly. But she has 170+ songs spanning tens years and she just turned 17yo. She was 8 when she won Norways Got Talent. She is a treasured gift and the most protected secret that the industry doesnt get to control. Very close with her family and is truly an Icon girls today should looked up to instead of some of the nasty around doing whatever on stage.
    Not Angelina she commands the stage by walking her 6ft barefoot self on the stage and let her voice seep into your soul and heal you.
    Warning there may be unexpected side-effects from her music.
    Chills, goosebumps, spontaneous emotional release, laughing, bewilderment, loss of speech, loss control of bottom jaw and forgetting to breath is to name a few. But if i would give a suggestion I would say either Loving You or Diamonds are Forever, age 11 live in concert.

    I’m glad you managed to get round to doing that one from your ever growing list. I knew you would like it. Eivør is her name (Eivør Pálsdóttir). She is an amazing folk influenced classically trained singer from the Faroe Islands who sings in both English and Faroese. She can do anything from folk, jazz, art pop, electronica, classical and rock. Her background singing and tribal chanting is also all over the Netflix Viking drama ‘The Last Kingdom’. For some traditional folk with a stunningly beautiful outdoor backdrop you could try Trøllabundin (sung in Faroese) about a wizard’s enchantment. Or maybe ‘True Love’ (English) about welcoming death after the pain of losing a loved one. Or the stunningly beautiful ‘Gullspunnin’ (Faroese). Go for the live performance video each time.

    a lot of people talking about aurora while skipping norways most talented woman in music business, susanne sundfor.
    one of her songs, when the lord, is a feature song for a documentary called self portrait. this documentary is about the norwegian photographer lene marie fossen, who suffered from anorexia since the early age of ten. she made extremly emotional portraits using only a hand camera. unfortunately she passed away short before the documentary premiered.

    Just to manage expectations if you do more of Eivør’s songs, this one was at the extreme rock end of what she does. Most of her other work is more mellow to varying degrees, but still often comes with highly impressive vocalisations that are unique to her, especially in the live performances.
