Favorite metal band growing up, got me to so many Guild Wars and Runescape quests! Most of their albums are concept album with a story and some album even featuring Christopher Lee, Saruman from LOTR
This is essentially who DragonForce is a parody of. This was prime high school early 2000s music for me so I have a soft spot downloading this on Napster. Anyways Dawn of Victory and Power of the Dragonflame are good ones to try next after this
Hey, it's been almost a year since I last heard that incredible band. Thanks for reminding me, JP! Fabio Lione is amazing. I love his voice, and guess what? He can even sing opera! My favorite song from them is "Wings of Destiny."
woa dude you cant imagine! Power Metal was my first Metal Subgenre, i grabbed a promo CD at a local music store and i was so amazed by those fantasy knight fighting covers. Rhapsody was always one of my favorite Bands, even tho i listen to a lot of Hard, Psych and Prog Rock, Heavy and Doom Metal i still love Power Metal and would LOVE to recommed you some stuff Rhapsody Ira Tenax - Warrior of ice ( Its like epicus furor and emerald sword, just from the first album legendary tales) Pathfinder Lord of Wolves (a little bit over the top but extreme skilled musicians, studio version, its longer than the music video version) Helloween - Keepers of the Seven Keys ( some old school power metal from the 80s) Stormwarrior - Iron Prayers ( Pretty Heavy Metal influenced Power Metal, not that fantasylike and more rough)
Hey, that was great! I wish I had more time these days to sample the things you play that I'm not familiar with, but that may open up again in the fall and I can scroll back. The name of this somehow caught me, glad I came.
ha ha ha - I don't think I'd want to hear it again but yes I enjoyed this JP. It was barking though I doubt that was the bands intention(?). It is the absurdly fast drumming that elevates this from the mildly cheesily entertaining to the utterly ridiculous. If I had this as a 45 rpm record I would want to hear what it would sound like played at 33⅓ .
Glad you found this band. Great memories from when I first found symphonic power metal. My favorite song of theirs is Angeli di Pietra Mistica: ua-cam.com/video/NK_-hTJgFAY/v-deo.htmlsi=WzAHc-F_fGT7SwWz This is an edited version that cuts out some cheesy narration sections.
@@Owlstretchingtime78 really? They didn't need to do that. It's a matter of facade / fake / posure. (and they live by it, it's one of their identity cards. Not that I agree with the war or misogynistic lyrics, but to me they sound so great!)
Great reaction! I agree Power metal tends to make people smile, I have a hard time not to for sure! Rhapsody actually took this to the next level, they have two concept sagas (in a fantasy world of their own making but obviously very LoTR inspired). The first saga is told throughout the first five albums, the second one, which includes narration by none other than Sir Christopher Lee, spans the last four, plus an EP. After that, the band split in 2012. Without Luca Turilli, it is not the same, pretty good Power metal still but not the same level as before. In my mind, Luca Turillis work after this is much better than the current Rhapsody of Fire.
I like them but I have to be in the mood kinda like blind guardian. Some great power metal bands are iron savior, gamma ray, and I love hammerfall, try the song hearts on fire from hammerfall, it’s not overly bombastic as rhapsody and might be more popular with the people 😊
I enjoyed that. Yes, it's impossible to take seriously, but isn't that a good thing? They reminded me (probably unintentionally) of another Italian band, *Nanowar of Steel* that just makes fun of things like Manowar (of, for instance, All Hail to England, and Death to False Metal) ... OK and now you state the lyrics, I realize why! ... There's a direct Nanowar parody of this. *RAPsody* (with a bit of rap - and also something like a computer game sequence). If you enjoy slightly "broad" humour, you'll think it's funny, otherwise you might think it's a bit stupid - but hopefully somehow enjoyably stupid. I mean Black Sabbath is stupid, but it's very enjoyably, utterly brilliantly stupid. Oh, the link: ua-cam.com/video/-u3cUI7E8NA/v-deo.html
@@Eduardo-Ferreira1982 Glad you enjoyed it. The German version is a band called Feuerschwantz (although lately they've either become too subtle to me or have started to take themselves seriously). It means "tail of fire" literally, I think, but Schwantz means something like "dick", so I suspect there's some double entendre in the name.
Could be because Nanowar of Steel actually is very much inspired by Rhapsody. The name "Nanowar of Steel", is actually a travesty of the fact that Rhapsody had to change their name to "Rhapsody of Fire" for legal reasons.
Could you ever get a more Italian band than Rhapsody? Remember we enjoyed the two first albums when they came and we were young. Now, a lot of ironic distance. Cheesiest band that ever was. Pronounciations all over the place. I think these guys (or Luca Turilli) made music and texts to OSRPG games they had running.
@@kenl2091 playing wise/talent wise yes power metal is some of hardest shit out there (some songs are straight up beethoven level difficult) but serious in the sense of a serious/important topic no definitely not... it's cheesy fantasy music to make you feel good

I always found it a bit ridiculous the accent of the vocalist. But Luca Turilli is great. And this reminds me one debut album I heard once, spectacular power metal, "Rainforest", by Concerto Moon. That sang in Japanese (or so it seems) and those guitars were incredbile. Never found it, actually never searched for it, but that's one CD I would like to have.
Good grief that was appalling... A mish-mash of sound that I found bombastic, pretentious, and mixed with the faux classical. I just couldn't keep a straight face through this one, nor can I unhear it..... Deffo not my thing.

This impressed me as something that would be selected to play under the credit roll at the end of some superhero film.

But if you go to power metal, I guess it's a crime not listen to Manowar...
But, Manowar from 1983-1996 \m/ \m/
@@pentagrammaton6793, absolutely right. Forget the rest. (uninspired, repetitive metal)
Manowar; A bunch of fur wearing bozos who proved their rippling masculinity by signing their record deal in blood. Give me a godamned break please!

Also, song no. 5 on the same album was a straight rip from the music of Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness.
Yeah, it can be a lot of fun, for about 5 songs, and then I get bored and need something heavier and more evil.
