Emerald sword... ❤ "For the king for the land for the mountains For the green valleys where dragons fly For the glory the power to win the black lord I will search for the emerald sword" What an epic chorus!
Rhapsody is one of my favorite bands. Rhapsody and Nightwish have a lot in common and both bands in late 90s, early 2000s had a huge influence on development of European melodic Power Metal and Symphonic Metal. Later they changed their name to Rhapsody of Fire due to naming rights issues, but for me they will always be just Rhapsody. A friend gave me third album Dawn of Victory to listen to in 2000. In my opinion it is best album of band. One of founders of band, Luca Turilli, is a genius composer, he wrote most of music. He can be compared to Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish for his huge contribution to Rhapsody's music. His music is just as incredibly melodic, epic and virtuosic. His fate is not a simple one. He fought cancer and won. Symphony orchestras and various choirs have participated in recording of Rhapsody albums. Well, the vocalist Fabio Lyone has amazing vocal data and very memorable tone of voice. He took part in recording of Rhapsody songs and in Luca Turilli's solo projects.
I was 13 when I bought this album from a thrift store. And goddamn it was the best. Thankfully they´ll be coming to Finland this summer and I get to see them live for the first time.

Great reaction to a fantastic band. Please react to Queen of dark horizons or Turilli's Rhapsody Ascending to infinity. If you want a great actor as guest (rip) listen to The magic of the wizard's dream. Thank you from Italy
Yeah great reaction guys! Alex Staropoli is the mastermind btw, who wrote the stories and the music. Luca Turelli is their terrific lead guitarist for most of their run, but he split off to do his own thing after the Dark Secret Saga. This song is in the Emerald Sword Saga. If you want to just continue this album the next song is Wisdom of the Kings and is another banger, but for all their albums as you get farther in the style changes up, following a story-like pattern. Symphony of Enchanted Lands is in the middle of the story though, so if Thumbnail Lady is really wanting to dive deep, you might want to start at the beginning, with the album Legendary Tales. After a short Latin intro (which they like to use at the beginning of all their albums), it opens with Warrior of Ice which is another really good song. At the point you're at now, the story so far is that an ancient evil, Akron the Black Lord has come upon the land of Ancelot, also called the Enchanted Lands, hoping to summon demons and destroy everything. A hero, called the Warrior of Ice, emerges to oppose him, and seeks the Emerald Sword, a weapon of positive energy, in order to fight him. The Emerald Sword is said to be located beyond the Ivory Gate, which is within the Realm of Chaos and requires 3 keys to open. The first album, Legendary Tales, covers the intro events, the emergence of the Warrior of Ice, and the search for the first 2 keys within the Realm of Chaos. Of note, the second key was protected by the dragon Tharos, who the Warrior defeats, but then spares his life. Tharos was revealed to be under a spell--now broken--to protect the key, and he joins the Warrior of Ice as an ally. As the second album opens, the Warrior of Ice is searching for the third key. The story of this song, Emerald Sword, goes into this search for the third key. Over the course of the album, he finds it, journeys to and opens the Ivory Gate. Going beyond the Gate, he finds a place that is a border between the living realm and hell, populated by demons and undead. He fights through them with Tharos' help and recovers the sword, but Tharos is mortally wounded as they escape. As the album concludes with the title track you heard before, there is a funeral for Tharos. The people of Ancelot have learned of what's going on and rally with the Warrior of Ice, ready to march against Akron. The story goes on from there in sprawling, epic fashion.
Very good summary! But I would argue Luca Turilli is the mastermind, main composer and writer of the stories. I think when listening to Rhapsody of Fire vs Luca Turillis Rhapsody after the split, that becomes pretty evident. not that Alex Staropoli isn't a great musician and composer, he is for sure. But in my personal opinion, Luca Turilli is on an even higher level.
queen of the dark orizons awesome trip...... nice reaction. try whith therion on diferent vocal formation .son of staves of times on waken and of live gothic. you loveit. cheers from chile
Please react to "Narnia - The Great Fall of Man". Although it might not reach the symphonic epicness of the mighty Rhapsody, this is one of the most unique metal songs ever recorded. A song very obscure in the metal world, but you will be surprised how epic and magnificent it is. When almost everything sounds "the same" and generic - The Great Fall of Man is the opposite. In fact, the whole album is (The Great Fall).
Yeees, i love me some Rhapsody.🤘. My favorite of this album is The Dark Tower of Abyss ua-cam.com/video/8Wu8xdaE1a0/v-deo.html because of the pure baroqueness.
For me, the first four albums of Rhapsody are the best they ever created. But Symphony of the Enchanted Lands is the weakest of them. Yes, it has two absolute masterpieces that are Emerald Sword and Symphony of Enchanted Lands (the best of the "long song to finish the album" they ever made), but the rest of the tracks are not on pair with Legendary Tales, Dawn of Victory or Power of the Dragon Flame. Between those albums, my favorite is easily Dawn of Victory, what incredible opening and first track, this album is awesome! Then, they started a new saga with the terrible Symphony of Enchanted Lands Part 2, an album without inspiration, heavyness and epicness, and the only redeeming quality is the guest appearence of Sir Christopher Lee. Triumph or Agony is equaly bad, but surprise surprise, The Frozen Tears of Angels is an amazing album, I didn't place it between the best with the first four albums, just because it's amazing, but at that point in time, a little tired formula, and the "magic" of the first saga was totally lost, the musicians were only working together because they wanted to finish the second saga, but they're hating on each other.
Emerald sword... ❤
