My Husband and I bought an Arts and Crafts era home about 30 years ago. All the interior doors have the glass doorknobs, and the outside of the side door as well. Over the years, that knob has turned a gorgeous purple from the sun, before we even got there. I love it.🖤🇨🇦
This is one of the reasons I like older clear glass. I know it’s not very popular, but I love seeing the purple tones if exposed to the light for a long period of time. It sounds like you know exactly what I am talking about! Lucky you! 😊
I love your voice...you annunciate your words so well and I can understand you. I first saw you on Tiffany's Thrifting Vegas! So glad have subscribed and can listen to you more often! Love that perfume bottle with the seahorse on it! ❤️
Thank you for showing Arcadia. I didn't know they had sustained damage from Hurricane Ian. I live in Fort Myers and my family was originally from the Desoto County area dating back to the 1850s. So glad to see that the historic homes are still there. I think I am due a visit there soon!

I agree about Bill Watterson and Calvin and Hobbes. Very glad that he never merchandised his comic strip, which is the best comic strip ever written in the history of the world in my opinion! 😊
Oh George I just absolutely loved the last Antique store you stopped into. What a wonderful Lady with amazing merchandise. I am glad you found a few pieces also. I am so happy you found something In Goodwill & had fun stopping there.
My local Ill Will doesn't restock on Saturdays unless they bought pallets of Target merch. Zero jewelry; it all goes to online auction. Fun in a Goodwill is in even shorter supply than actual good will. Glad to see George found some!
Dear George; Do you ever visit Brimfield, Massachusetts for the huge antiques and collectable fest? I enjoy you and your shows tremendously, thank you for your podcast.
I remember going to the museum over 40 years ago, but didn't realize Arcadia had become a antique mecca. When I was in Florida Sarasota was where I antiqued.
19:51 I'm not sure of the age on this berry/dessert bowl but I believe it's Anchor Hocking. The ones I've seen have 2 shell tab handles but it looks like the left one here was a factory defect.
Aha! That's my year of calendar plate! I already have one. My Grandma used to have several of them hanging on the wall. Our California Goodwills have no sales, and I don't think much new/overstock items or much jewelry. No baggies full of whatnots either. Mostly clothes for sure. Standard item pricing by category.
@@daddykitch they have standard prices for most things. usually inexpensive, but no sales or tags. glasses $1 usually, bowls $4, etc. art work only $5. But you have to wade through a lot of junk.
Arcadia was an interesting place, George. Love the beautiful old homes being brought back to life. I was in Gulf Shores, AL when Ian struck last year. We had planned going to Pensicola, but decided to stay out of the way of any rescue people on their way to help. That lady, Carolyn, was quite knowledgable & had some very impressive pieces. Btw, i like her name 😉.
Good evening, George! WOW! That brass telescope was fantastic! That didn't seem a bad price on it, either. I liked those swords. It would be fun to have a wall display of a grouping of them. That silver service set was pretty and that was a really good price...but I ain't polishing silver 😆 Dang, that seemed really cheap on the wicker set. It was a shame that Dresden piece had so much damage. That was a beautiful piece of porcelain. That Goodwill seems like a place to give a few visits. Not too many of them have the kinds of things they had there. That was a fun video! Thanks for the take-along!
I like showing telescopes and swords and cool metal objects! I figured after the last video that something less jewelry focused was okay. I don't polish either, even though that is a good pattern and might have been salable...I was sad the Dresden piece had such a hard life, but was pleased to think you could find something good at Goodwill! Glad you had fun :)
That first store had my name written all over it. Loved everything there! Hope you are doing well. I wished I could have made it to chat but our local hockey team won the first series of play-offs tonight!
How cool! The Cyclones did well to keep coming back against Ft. Wayne, I hope they beat Toledo too (sorry, Toledans). Our new NHL team in Seattle beat the defending champs in game 7 and are on to the second round, only my poor Lightning team didn't get out of round 1 this year
@@TheAntiqueNomad We like Tampa Bay! I am not familiar with this new Seattle team but I follow ECHL a little more than NHL. I hope our teams make it! :)
I’ve got a bowl similar to that Antonio Da Ros bowl at 9:01 that I only paid a few bucks for at a thrift store. (I don’t know if it glows under a black light though) it’s one of my favorite thrift finds. Thanks for another fun video.
Tons of Sabino and Lalique are coming out of estate sales these days. I know of one coming up that probably has 20 or so pieces of Sabino, including that same nude figure. My first impression was also Swedish on that Murano glass piece. I do have quite a bit of Murano glass with a video premiere coming up on the 5th, with part II in the works. Even with the collection I have, I'm still learning. 8:20 Are those two orange pieces New York World's Fair 1932?
Props! There, I used an almost vintage term.😢 I found a charger with a pattern similar to the pinecone one but Canadian made. I'm not helping, I can't remember the name.
As a reseller - it's torture going thru Antique centers, booths and malls . The prices are way too high -- especially on better stuff. And also the fact that - seems like every antique center has the same "mind set" with too too much glass and "Granny-tiques" . Always lacking vintage toys by Mattel , Remco, Ideal , Topper. And always lacking toys from 1966 thru 1970.
I only know of a few malls that have specialists in those areas, most of those are items that are taken by toy dealers to specialty shows and are priced even higher than they are in the malls. I find that some antique malls are more reseller friendly, and some are pricing at full retail (but there's almost always one overlooked item that offers profit). On the other hand, if there isn't a retail market, then everything is wholesale, and resellers need a retail customer or there's no reselling...so there's the conundrum.
@@daddykitch You NEVER see high end 1960s boxed toys at antique malls . EVER. They're TOO valuable for "pickers" to find. YET you ALWAYS see 1980s toys like He -Man and She-Ra. And those UGLY 1980s G.I. Joes.
Business administration and marketing! Not the typical path. I figured out that I didn't want to work for a giant corporation, so I got a job with a developer of a factory outlet mall who also owned a chain of antique malls...and it all snowballed from there!
Thank you George, fun to be in on your conversations with the store owner. She is delightful!
