I run a JP 15-22, no problems running it with a suppressor, it has been shooting matches for around 10+ years, it is used for training with beginners and running classes, never had an issue. If you want a true bolt hold open, get the bolt catch from Kriss, it works with the JP 22-bolt. You should show the bolt, it's quite unique and interesting. I live in Sweden and we don't have SBR-laws or other restrictions for sporting guns, a friend cut down his JP 15-22 to around 8 inches and made a superlight barrel shroud, kind of like the JP super light 22-barrel/anschüts style. His rifle shot tighter groups after being cut down, unexpected but welcome :) Ps that thread protector is annoying, ours come loose all the time too 😅 Thanks for always having the best content and reviews, you have great support over here, our sport shooters are all in to the techincal and in depth facts and specs, thank you for giving great insights!
Amazing news that you can get true bolt hold open on th Jp-14 .22lr! Is it this part: KRISS DMK22 BOLT RELEASE ASSEMBLY? I have several black dog mags, will it work with them, if you have tried that combo? Thanks for the info @sneakerpimp13
Broke down and got an AR 15. All Wisconsin made. Criterion barrel, American Defense lower and upper, chambered in 223 Wylde, and Midwest Industries tactical hand guard. Wanting to do some inexpensive training so I am trying CMMG 22lr conversion. 400+ rounds and no one flaw. Very pleased. The JP looks great.
I have a CORE 15 tac 3 .22lr upper I have been running for the last 10 years. Finally broke the cmmg bolt carrier and cmmg replaced it under warranty. I have over 20,000 rounds through it. I have 5 sons and we shoot a lot of .22. I learned real quick those black dog mags were unreliable. Put a Better mag adapter in the mag well and switch to S&W m&p mags. It runs awesome. This JP looks like the next dedicated upper.
I recently bought the Walther Hammerli, got about 200 thru it with no issues. It is a fun inexpensive way to have fun at the range and not go broke lol...
Years ago I owned a JPNC22 and I can attest it will not replace your bolt gun. 2 inches at 100 was the norm whereas a stock CZ455PVT was a MOA to sub. The JP uses the Nordic bolt operating system and I can tell you Nordic makes a great bolt. I own an old DPMS.22 which used the Nordic bolt for steel challenge and it has reliability better than any .22 semiautomatic I have owned or seen. My current .22 Steel Challenge gun is a JP ultra lite barrel and bolt and it has allowed me to move up the ranks at my local cub and regional matches.
Poors here. Built me up a 16in light weight .22lr dedicated upper using a RightToBear barrel, CMMG conversion kit and an ATK 15inch rail. 100 percent reliable and is minute of squirrel.
I did the same for a trainer, RtB pencil 16" barrel. I might've got lucky but mine is pretty similar in accuracy & precision to what Ray's JP shot here, using Norma Tac-22. No malfunctions on mine even under a 2-day Appleseed shoot, but I keep an eye on wax/carbon buildup. The Black Dog magazines are real nice too.
I got a CMMG. 22conversion I run for training in my regular setup and it works pretty well. Also have a smith 15-22 and it’s super fun with very few feeding issues
@West Virginia Miner 304 Love my 15-22 but once the mags start to get a groove worn into them where the case rims are, reliability starts to suffer and I toss the mags. I wish S&W (or anyone for that matter) would make a mag with metal feed lips.
Great review. I have the JP-22 barrel kit I installed in a Seekins Precision rifle. Ended up with similar results as you except mine wasn't as reliable, feeding issues when trying to shoot fast (steel challenge). Decided to send it off to Hart Rifle Barrels for a heavy 20" for precision Rimfire. Excited to see what he sends back, should be here soon.
Thank You Sir! I like the upper and am interested in examining the bolt in person to compare with the CMMG/RTB version and the Bear Creek side charge version. 👍🇺🇸
Poors like me use the cmmg conversion bolt. In a 1:8 BA Hanson barrel I get 3-4" groups at 50 yards with the ammo it likes. I plugged the gas tube to prevent excess fowling in the receiver.
I just put the JP barrel and bolt I a Wilson Combat receiver set. I love it, shoots great. Yes, it’s not a bolt precision, but it’s fun. Btw, Norma Tac and believe it or not Aguila outshot SK and Lapua
I'd be interested to see the bolt and recoil assembly. I've got a CMMG dedicated 16". Aero upper and R1 handguard. I'm into it for approximately $650 -$700 bucks.
Hey, was interested to get your take on best firing semi-autos. I think the Vulcan from Olympus arms looks pretty cool but probably only shoots 2 moa. I think the .308 sig spear looks good too but not sure moa. Saw your video on JP rifles. Is this what you’d recommend for sub moa and semi?
'High on dope' Not the ideal choice of words...tehe! I have a tippmann 22lr with 16 inch barrel, A-tec wave mod and trigger tech diamond straight, it holds1/2 inch @50m with RWS semiauto and as good with the 45grain CCI suppressor and it cycles period! Never had such a reliable semi auto 22lr.
I have a jp15 in 223rem and the lr22 setup and i works like a dream, you only have to clean the 22lr for every training and with the big mags the best is to use minimags and not the holowpoint. Than this setup is 100 completely reliable. And not mutch 22lr semi automatics are like that.
Are these rifles designed to prevent damage to the chamber when ]dropping the hammer when the last shot has been fired? Do you not feel the need to load the bipod or does that have any effect?
I used JP's rifle builder on their site and the build I was interested in came to $3,400.00; when I found out it wouldn't come near to shooting with my Chacon custom 10/22, I quickly forgot about it. Still enjoyed this video but don't want to spend that much money for plinking accuracy.
Try SK Rifle Match or Eley. Both my JP22 & my buddies will hold 1.00 to 1.25moa at 100y with SK RM and Wolf Match Extra [Eley]. Have not tried Lapua in it, but you should expect 1moa at 100y with ammo it likes.
Did you try any other ammo? 22LR in my experience is very finicky about ammo choice and that one may simply not like Lapua Center-X. I usually try Eley Tenex, SK match, CCI standard, Eley match, and whatever else I have in my 22LR bag of junk.
I didn't think it would be vudoo level accuracy but I expected better than that. I've had box stock 10/22's that shoot that good. If it would hold 1 moa I'd probably be a buyer. But not at 2 moa.
I want to teach my wife and girls to shoot. I don't want to teach them multiple systems since I use an AR-15 and a pof AR10, and I want them to be able to graduate into my ARs without having to relearn a whole new system. I get that this isn't cheap, but I'd like my girls to be able to defend themselves and each other once I'm not around and maybe compete if they enjoy it. If cost wasn't the biggest factor are their other drawbacks that wouldn't make this good for new girl shooters?
i have Kriss dmk22. very very reliable and shoots just as well or possibly better than this one. although havent tried it with center x but mostly shoot sk standard plus. full metal, accepts all ar-15 components (triggers, charging handles,...) and uses standard 10/22 barrels. also has functional last round bolt hold open.
I have both, there is no comparing these two rifles, I love my Kriss rifle but the bolt is completely different in the JP. Both run equally reliably. The JP rifle is true multi caliber, you can swap the barrel and bcg and run .223/300blk etc but the Kriss upper receiver can't accept a gas tube and isn't milled for the cam. The Kriss is and awesome 22lr rifle for running as a minirifle in IPSC etc, unbeatable for the price.
I don't know for 800 bucks for a barrel and it won't shot under a inch not sure it's for me at that price money is not the issue it's the bang for the buck..
I understand completely. Maybe I just read too much into your comment. I have been blessed and that is for sure . However, once upon a time ago I put in the work, training and dedication to the shooting sports. Not privileged.
@@XRING like to see more 22 videos. + you seem to know your stuff, also some other guy mentioned X Ring in his video. Pretty much the only rifle I get to shoot. Planning on converting my 10/22 into a Charger this summer.

Thanks for the review Ray! It looks like a very mice setup.
JP makes some really nice stuff I have shot one of his 6.5Semi Auto's and it was very close to middle tier bolt gun accuracy.
This videos keep getting better and better
Thanks I truck and thanks for watching.
....and just when I decided on the Rock River 22LR upper, JP shows up.

The Tippmann Arms M4-22's are a solid option too. I see similar accuracy to this rifle you're reviewing . All metal and very reliable.
hmm, might pick that upper myself . We are limited on ARs here , so this would be perfect to throw on top of my 3gun rifle

Kinda partial to the SIG 522 myself since i have it's bigger brother
