4:09 The last note in the bass part of the 50th measure (fourth one in the timestamped screenshot) is wrong. The correct note is E-flat, not F, because in Bach's original autograph, there is an ink blot above this note, which has caused many editors to misinterpret this note as an F. Other copies, like the Clavierbuchlein and the Gerber manuscript correctly show the note as an E-flat

Jane I want a clarification. How many inventions r there in Bach? I know Bach 15 invention. Heard abt 2 parts& 3 parts invention. Pls explain these 2&3 parts invertion all r included in 15 invention? Or
Hi, good question. There are 15 inventions (two-part contrapuntal pieces) and 15 sinfonias (three-part contrapuntal pieces, also called three-part inventions). The inventions and the sinfonias are both arranged in order of ascending key, covering 8 major and 7 minor keys.
I have a set of two books: 2-part inventions and 3-part inventions. Total is 30 inventions. You can download (free) various editions at IMSLP and decide which edition you wish to purchase. It is nicer to own the books.

Thanks for being careful. I just played that line through, every note sounded right. Is the note in question the D? It is on the treble clef.
Great job, Jane. Thank you very much.
Thank you, Neilram.
