This song always bring back a great memory. My son was singing this song every 10 minutes while battling with Leukemia in an hospital bed in Chennai, India. I know my son is singing this song with Angels in Heaven. I love you UyaiAbasi - Akwaima
I love this version of the song. As a newly saved Christian (November 6, 2011) I am learning all the hymns/songs of our church. I love hearing all the different ways they can be sung but love when we can have just a little fun with the music and still get the same chills up our spine! God bless!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (April 2), I attended a noon Lent service at a local Presbyterian Church. We sang this as the Closing Hymn. It is #210 in The Presbyterian Hymnal.
I love it!! Which is funny, because I usually prefer traditional hymns. I understand that it might seem like they're butchering this beautiful hymn, but I feel like jumping up and dance and praise Him until I run out of voice. I think in the end this is what's important, for He sees what's in my heart. Way beyond the notes and the lyrics. I love you, Lord.
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Lyric Lawson i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@@sandradomazet2042 yes really amazing! but praying that listeners by the wordings of the hymn will resolve to follow the Lord more closely and righteously to meet Him on that day without spots or wrinkles.
I don't care what people say about worship styles and the need to "contemporize". Um, what? Have people tried reading the youtube comments on classical hymns in the original majestic style on organ and choir. This transcends culture folks! Am I opposed to all forms of contemporary music? Absolutely NOT! There is a time and a place for that. This particular hymn, as it speaks of God's eternal might and faithfulness, deserves greater music. BTW I'm a "youth", so don't tell me I'm too old to know!
"Words and Music by Tommy Walker". Looking pretty good for being over 300 years old - never knew "Isaac Watts," who's usually given. credit for this song, was just a pen name for Walker, though.
Dear "TheJaigner" I'm curious. Are we only to sing the Scriptural Psalms, then? Does God not gift each generation to reach that generation? I find this a great introduction for young people to the beauty and theology of the old hymns, and not only sing, but learn from them.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion on presentation and style. At the end of the day, the Lord is about excited about style as I am about watching paint dry. Be it a cantata, Gregorian chant or modern chorus, there's maturity in being excited about TRUTH over TUNES. After all, it's a belief in truth that saves, not a belief in a tune or arrangement. #perspective
@Man4God4eva BTW I'm just saying it all how it is, not trying to wound needlessly, just pointing out glaring problems in Churchianity that go way beyond how singing is conducted. America's church has the tendency to be either stilted and legalistic, or drunkenly acting like Jesus is your cuddly friend and that's all. What the church needs is a true, on-fire, love for the Lord. Anyway, I'm praying for God's people, that He will grant revival and renewal to His people.
So will you be giving up Martin Luther's "A Mighty Fortress" because it is drawn from a German drinking song? Bach also knew this when he set it in one of his High Church Cantatas.
Ummm...I agree that we benefit from good texts taking root in our lives, but it is generally false and unhelpfully dismissive to say that God doesn't care about style. Style should be judged theologically just as text is.
To sing to God a NEW song, is to sing from a NEW heart. The old heart will always offer false worship to God. Only the new heart can praise him in spirit and truth. In my opinion (and this is just what happens to be my opinion), the style is not bad, but the new part (Oh God….) is awful. It talks about God as “our helper” and “worthy of our praise”. I think this is a very low view on, who God is. The song would be better without this new part.

Great music. Charles certainly knows how to lead and bring joy to a room of people.

AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL ❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Feeling sad. Came here to find spiritual uplifting. God is my helper and my refuge for all ages

SO GOOD TO HEAR THE OLD HYMNS

I love this rendition.Profound theology He is our help and ancient of days.
They glorify God through the Hymn.
just heard this kind of version of the hymn on the radio and it was lovely, lively and divine, i love this version!
Glorious gem! Lord we pray Thee , let all these glorious echoes of songs translate into GENUINE SALVATION in the singers, Amen !
ANYTHING CHARLES SINGS OR LEADS IS AMAZING ...PRAISE THE LORD ❤️ 🙏

I just love these old songs, they blesses my soul
One of my favorite song ever,
A Glorious Hope a true Child Of God, Praise God .

Do you have any scripture to back your opinions of this up?
One of my fav songs ever! It's so encouraging. Always gives me a joy inside! Thank you.
WOW! Great Job. Glory to GOD IN THE HIGHEST
I wonder what 'Ave Maria" would sound like sung by this church and congregation.
Worthy of our Praise
Praise the Lord. 🙏

Well done!
Si hay algún latino que conozca este himno es español, escriba aquí y me dice cómo se llama y donde encontrarlo si es posible….gracias

I somehow prefer the classic one, but I think each one has its beauty.
It wasn't. What are you even talking about.
agree
@travisdoucettemusic Just curious, are you the dude singing up front, i.e. the "worship leader"?
Sean Connery 2:24
I NEVER AQUIRED A TASTE FOR "S H I T "
Sadly, this arrangement does not do this timeless hymn justice or give it the classic power that it has when it is sung acappella or with an organ.
Isaac Watts returned from his grave to dislike this 9 times.

This is not how the choir of King's College, Cambridge would do the hymn but I admire the enthusism of the congregation

This is...this is awful. Why in heaven's name would you do this? And all that playful, self-aggrandizing nonsense from the "worship leader." So weird.
Ugh...way to put on a show and totally miss the point of worship...
