I thought it was cool when my elementary school replaced the chalkboards with marker boards. Now they have this. LOL. I feel so old.
these boards annoy the teachers at my school. every so often it goes out of alignment and it messes up my math teachers diagrams and she starts to flip out... :P
I have some of those in my university(NEVER seen one of them on).
My old school had these...but they didn't use them so much. My new school though, just recieved ALOT of these, and I expect to use them a lot more this year!
I wish my class rooms had one of these when I was growing up. Makes learning a lot more fun!

This technology is absolutely brilliant, wish it was around when I was in school!
My school has SMART boards in most classes, including my own. We are a junior high and we are finding more and more that they are not that applicable at that level or above. Junior High kids lose interest in this very fast and if not everyone can be involved right away, then they do not care. Its not that we are not creative, but this is clearly geared more for early ed, just look at all the examples they ever present, never have I seen one giving a good example of a secondary lesson.

I want my school to have these boards, I would definitely pay more attention in class. xD but our school has the promethean board, we moved to a new school so we don't know if we'll get the promethean boards or the new one. I hope they give us smartboards. :D

More schools should have every room to get a smart boards. It's very useful and productive.
My school has one in every classroom. There so fun because they can conect to a computer and It comes with (at least ours) a projector thing so you just point the camera thing to what you want to show such as a paper and it puts it on screen.
We do have Smartboard in my school too, but funny is, yesterday I was at math class and my math teacher writing a question then it got frozen, and blue of the death, so funny LOL

the most common class room size smartboard 77" is about $1,300 US dollars, for the board, and software,pen tray, pen.. then you have to supply a projector which start about $500.00 so a complete set-up is about $1,800.00 not 3,000

I bet my teachers wished they had these when I was in school instead of all of the writing on the chalkboard. Heck my college didn't even use these....but that was 10 years ago. And now my daughter's elementary school uses these. I thought they were dry erase boards at first, until I saw the blinking light on it.
These are only in the special ed and pre-ap classes at my school. Hallelujah i'm in pre-ap those things are so awesome to use !

My district is huge and all 12 of the elementary schools all 4 of the middle schools and all 3 of the high schools are getting smart boards!! At my elementary school they had one in the music room and they are sweet!!! Ok picture day for middle school I looked in the class rooms and saw smart boards in ever room it's so exiting
My school has a smartboard in everyroom No one ever uses it because it glitches so much when we drag we recalibrate it and its the smartboard Our school spent more then 3,000 dollers on this piece of "software"
@wierdpoplol As a teacher, I will say that when the SMART Board has a glitch, 9 times out of 10 it is because the computer in the classroom is slow, old, and is freezing. If the computer is a piece of junk, the SMART Board won't work properly.
I'm from Armenia and we have SmartBoards too in our classroom.I study at school named A.S.Pushkin and SmartBoards in Armenia are only at our school!

My school just upgraded from a pentium 4 machine to a modern day pentium machine! Those PCs use smart boards!

it's just a large touch screen computer monitor. the teaching apps are in the computer that must be connected. they don't tell you that part in the vid.
We have one of these in every room. Even the Spanish room. We barely use that one though. They're fun to write on though :)

a good old fashioned piece of chalk works just as good and is more hands on than a smart board, i have spoken to numerous teachers who prefer chalkboards over smart boards citing that it encourages kids to work more diligently and what kid doesn't have fun with chalk after class.
My school has them in like every room. I love using the pen!!

Harmony Community School has 1 in every class, we also have microphones to walk around the class with so the teachers dont have to strain their voice.

there is already technology in the making for that. It is called Mixed Reality,take a look at the video from SMART The SMART Document Camera is Mixed Reality ready. oh and BTW, look at the functionality of Ink Aware and Notebook Math Tools, you will find it interesting.

@MyCoolAimName1 It looks like your school doesn't receive enough funding. My high school implemented smart boards and they're really fun to use. Our smart boards roll though; we don't have them secured into a wall (except for music), and it's great fun to use as a student and as a teacher (I'm a TA). If your school doesn't have enough funds and you're having to cut other things to support the smart board, of course it won't turn out to be a fun experience. Try doing fundraising.
wow. this is gr8 technology that makes classroom learning very interesting. in uganda, we are still using blackboards though.

in Greece they use it too do not worry ! it is the will to learn not always the tools

Smart boards are in their infancy. The concept behind them makes them far superior to traditional black/white boards. They only have to make them better.
it would be cool if this used hologram tecnoligy instead of a wall. Still cool though. I tried one at my skool toda :)

Yeah, our budgets definitely can't afford this... I know the money is not necessarily related, but keep up music and art before buying this...
That said, it does seem a rather useful technology... though relying on computers can cripple us, should the computers fail or glitch (try ringing up an order on a computerized cash register when the computer keeps glitching... without causing customers to leave)

we have a couple in my high school but we are more for the promethian board its not as glitchy and u need to calibrate it less often

DVD player or windows media center with some movies downloaded hope I helped :)
The Average Windows Computer has a DVD drive so it'll show a movie automatically.
