Something most reviewers aren't talking about was the tension in this movie, which was a constant presence, this feeling that suddenly any of the characters could snap and shoot you. Also, George MacKay deserves all the praise, he is incredible in everything he does and this movie is no different.
I really don't mean to be rude but I'm at the end of the video and I'm still not hearing a review. Just a background of the character, a synopsis and a rundown of whose acting in the film.
Like Robbie Collin said, it is NOT a movie for everyone, but it was definitely one for me, and the longer it went the more it pulled me in. I cannot stop thinking about it, and I fully expect it is going to be one of those movies I watch many times over the years. I already have plans to make sure my spouse sees it, and I've suggested it to a couple of friends that I think will vibe with it. I knew when it was done that I had really really liked it, but the more distance I get from my first viewing the more I think it was really stellar. George McKay did an outstanding job, and I was very surprised by some of the other performances. If you're a fan of something a little atypical (or just want to see George McKay rock a black dress) you should check it out. Somehow it manages to be both subtle and punk as hell.
Very entertaining if not flawless (felt a bit rushed in the buildup from second to third act), visually astonishing and strong performances from George MacKay, Essie Davis and especially Nicholas Hoult.
I was keen until Robbie pointed out the director made Macbeth. How he got bad, one note performances out of Cotillard and Fassbender was a mystery for me at the time. Hmmm.
My thoughts exactly. That Macbeth adaptation was awful. It was boring, cheap and forgettable. I watched Polanski's Macbeth once in highschool and I still remember it vividly. I saw Fassbender's Macbeth 2 years ago and I dont remember anything about it besides how bad it was.

@Billy Ellis Thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) I appreciate it !
@Conrad Seth Happy to help :)
Good to see another high quality Australian film. We really do have a pretty decent, if underrated, film industry here.
DodderingOldMan Red Hill is particular favourite of mine. Brilliant Aussie film.
just need some actors now, most of these are British. I'd rather watch a film from OZ than the U.S these days anyway
The film was wrought w/ horrid foley work and unbearable sound quality.
I was hoping Kermode would review this one since he’s a huge fan of George Mackay...

Saw the film last night at the Glasgow film festival, and I loved it. George McKay is brilliant.
Just saw this in Finland at Love & Anarchy film festival. I really liked the film. Such a crazy journey through the myth and legend.

House Fluffington , I couldn’t agree more.
Its not the outback. Its country Victoria.
This movie is absolutely despised by
the Australians who idolise Kelly.

Nah there’s flaws. The main one I can think of is how suddenly they flipped neds personality. Like he literally became a murderous badass off screen.
