Reminds me of when Gary V did the wine library videos before becoming an “influencer.” Except 3 guys with accents, so wine library meets top gear by way of the other colony. Subscribed.
wow, never knew how much import costs, that's probably why wine tends to be so expensive in the US. I can count me very lucky to live in Germany I guess. That Riesling is 7,50€ here!
@@wineforthepeople Are the tariffs the problem? The transport really can't be the big issue thanks to container shipping, even origin bottled Australian wines are quite affordable in Europe. A German wine merchant once told me that the cost of shipping his imports from Sydney to Hamburg was equal to the cost of transporting it further from Hamburg a few hundred kilometers inland. If you like the stuff that much, a self-organized bulk order may be sensible?
Possibly, although it's more likely that the importer is simply being charged a premium for the wine as Australia is simply a remote market with a limited volume it can consume. Sending wine from Australia TO Europe is a different consideration - one large wine producing country sending to one large group of wine consuming countries...tend to attract better pricing.
Danish guy living in Austria. Just found your channel. Love your approach to blind tasting!! Really well put together! I would love for you guys to rate the wines differently though. Or do you guys think rating it on the 100 point scale too old fashioned?
Haha thank you! We've been asked many many times to rate things on a 100 point scale - but the issue is that it doesn't really tackle 'deliciousness' - what's a point-score mean anyway? When we polled our audience recently, 92% of everyone who watches the channel (250,000 people now) - have been disappointed by a high-point scoring wine. So points don't really mean much if they don't help people with actual happiness. So we have two metrics: how much we'd spend, and how much we'd buy - as indicators of how much we could consume, when we would consume it, how would we consume it, and how much financial pain would we go through to get it. They're far more relatable than a single score.

Yeah importing into Australia wacks a hefty price ontop, 7.50 is pretty incredible pricing!
