Theres something deeply human about music in the midst of tragedy, chaos and death, something about one last attempt of calming your nerves one last chance to enjoy the art we as humans have created, from a pianist in the burning remains of a city, to the musicans on the Titanic as it is sinking. Something about it is what humanity might be all about even in the face of death itself we find something to enjoy something to dedicate ourselves to something to make life what it is, art.
When the Empire of the Dead reached Copenhagen, it seemed to consume all except a crew of soldiers that flew the flag of Denmark that managed to escape that city that burned like a candle on a boat. But left behind was a pianist playing a final tune in the mix of flames and death.
I am assuming that there is a person playing music behind the door. Quite saddening really. One last melody, one last song to face the hordes of hell before you. But a little uplifting if you can take it that way. Beautiful music, to reflect the beauty of humanity. One last dirge for the wonder of all.
"One last piano play won't harm nobody eh..?" "And the piano continues echoing throughout the already burnt city of Coppenhagen in a last effort of self preservation..."
I am learning piano and there is one thing about learning something, especially an instrument. It is easier to make progress if you enjoy it, me I really want to learn so it's easier (even my piano teacher and her mother agrees). If you are forced, it seems stressful, therefore it takes longer.
Within our wonderful city of Copenhagen, thousands upon thousands of men, women and children lay to rest, having succumbed to the horrors of the Empire of the Dead, with the British fleets sunk, and the last of the Danish troops sailing to calmer waters. I have no clue why but I wanted write a little monologue thingy lol
"The city is in flames, and the British will blow up anything that tries to escape this inferno. The cannibals that roam the street will consume anything that isnt already a part of the horde. There is no hope for most and they have accepted that but those who have not will attempt to escape this hell, probably in vain but if it gives them peace knowing that they tried i have nothing against them. This is my final goodbye." -Unknown, 11th of July 1815

The often untouched subject in games like these is the effect it has on the common man. The people who were just living day by day, in the presence of their loved ones. Some may have been going through tough times, Others may have already figured it out and are in the process of healing. But the Undead took that all away. The happiness, the love, the memories, All of it. I hope in the next maps, The developers put in little tidbits left behind city by civilians in the place the map is taking place. Perhaps a letter from a child for their Brother fighting the Undead, for him to take care of himself no matter the circumstances and to remember that he is not alone in the fight. Or maybe even a Fortress within a City like the one shown in the bridge segment before we cross it using the boat. But without it being overrun. With a large but rag-tag group of Armed Civilians and Soldiers volunteering to be left behind to make a Safe haven for anyone still trapped in the city. Or at least a place that the Army can go to to rest and resupply while they plan their next move to recapture the city.
