- Episode 317 of Mike Finnegan's Garage briefly takes us inside the nerve center of Blasphemi as we partner with Wirecare to rewired all of its 12-volt power distribution. We'll cover different types of automotive relays, connections and terminals and then we go Back To the Future as we get the inside scoop of what really happened to Tony Angelo and I during Hot Rod Drag Week 2019. Finally, we have an epic teaser of the two-part, five hour long movie we just filmed about our adventure during the 2024 edition of Drag Week. You're gonna dig it. There's lots of never-before-seen footage in this episode and I'm so excited about the movie Chris Read is editing right now. We'll drop it here as soon as its ready. In the meantime, enjoy this episode and thanks for the support. As always, the best way to support Finnegan's Garage is by spreading the word about the show, purchasing a t-shirt at www.fsmgarage.com and giving our sponsors like www.Wirecare.com a follow.

A bonus episode with NEWBERN!!!!!!! Man I miss that guy on your show
Join the club 😊
I just watch his channel a lot of good stuff there !!
Yea I try to watch his channel too.....I got too much to watch and not enough time to watch it lol
Me too. But not Cotten. I don't like his bug-eyed expressions. Newbern has charisma and personality.
@@bencarlson3670 And so many of these channels are putting out 1hr videos semi-regularly now - I mean, I'm not complaining, but I also don't know how the hell I'm going to keep up😂
There's a lot of work that went into drag week its self, but there was also a lot of work that went into editing this video just for us to watch. Excellent work Mike and Tony and nice to see you at Harrells just down the Rd from me on Wilkerson
Only part of that car that is 69 years old is the VIN plate 😂
Got um on that lol
Roof, b and c pillars are still original. But yes, they're aint much left that is 😂
Damn. Beat me to it. Lol
Living up to its name. BlaspHemi
@@Beaten4.8that’s like saying you bought a brand new Jeep and put a 69 year old top on it and registers it as 69 years old lol.
As an HVAC guy, your usage of tin snips makes me cry a little. Was good to see you guys run this year.
The yellow handle Wiss snips are the least useful. Red and Green should be the snips of choice
As a sheet metal guy that has sprung more snips than I would count, I wholeheartedly approve. He's cutting sheet metal in situ, the bane of the HVAC industry. So long as there's no stainless steel within 200 ft or so, he is doing just fine.
I was thinking the same thing gotta know your left from your right!
@@philbert006lol you’re comment is better than what I had tee’d up
I love the 55 with the Hemi and the manual Trans. What a great Drag and Drive race car. Two Lane Blacktop, but even better. Racing Blasphemi on a track has got to be a wonderful experience, but driving her on the street has got to be the Greatest feeling in the world. Mike Finnegan you are living the dream. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
Ok so I just noticed the most important thing to have in a car like " Blasphemi"
CUP HOLDERS!
Well done Mike!!!!
So glad I got the shirt. You're bad financial decisions are way more entertaining than mine 😅
Your videos are always admired for their professionalism and creativity. Thank you for your dedication!⌨️🏔♀️
You are the Man Finnegan! Thanks for improving the quality of life for us all! This made my day Boss!
Great adventure by the Mike and Tony show, EVERYONE out there was watching you guys play. Good effort, much improved!
Since you've got the Wire Care hookup, consider using ferrules in your terminal blocks for stranded wire. Adds strain relief, less resistance and no chance of a strand going somewhere it shouldn't.
Great idea, I’d never considered this before.
Agreed and use the tool for them
I’ve always just tinned the ends of the wire before inserting in to the terminal block, but your idea sounds even better!
Sweet idea.
@@rickfazzini22 Soldering is worse than nothing at all. You're solidifying the connection but irregularly, which means more resistance than letting the strands shift and shape to the terminal when it's being tightened. Also, the solder will actually flow and change over time and the connection will weaken if you're not tightening your terminals.
Yess!! 👍
I'll be watching this after the Singapore Grand Prix.
You and newbern stopped in front of my house in 19 on the way to atco at like 2am . I woke up thinking wth is that noise . By the time I realized y’all were leaving . I’m still mad I didn’t run out to say hi . Was awesome seeing all them hot rods running around the street .
Just loving it. Can't wait for the new movie. Such cool dudes having fun.
The shutdown of the track after that wheelie changed my day. I was at the water box with a car that was jumped started. Not knowing how long it would be down I had to make the decision to shutdown the car and start a 3 hour diag, repair, and race. Mostly the wait for all run but it had a ripple effect.
Wednesday night I saw Blasphemi on I-94 heading out from US-131, it made my WEEK.
That build book scratches my OCD itch real good 🤣
Bro WON with a WHEELIE. Pure talent
Ohh, looking forward to the upcoming movie!
Way to go brother you guys did a hell of a job and as always Blasphemy is definitely my favorite car this year at drag week
It’s so good to see Dave Matthews little brother back in the shop.
As if my anticipation for the 2024 movie wasn't enough, you go and amp it up some more with the 2019 throwback - can't wait!
Awesome hydraulic hose crimper tool.
Very Cool!!. Thanks for the backstory from 2019.
Bailey has some good 2024 Blasphemi footage as well Mike.
Shifter glove had me about spit out my coffee.
Thank you for posting all the great videos on your UA-cam channel. Maybe squeeze a few episodes of opening fan mail when drag racing slows down
My original Speed Parts Killer and new Party Pulley Army shirts helped me feel like I participated in a small way. Thanks, Mike and Crew! 🤟🎸🍻🥃🍺🍹🧑🌾🇺🇲
That's sweet! I love wiring too. You should make a sticker of the wiring schematic and stick it to the bottom of the seat like OE fuse boxes do with their fuse/relay maps
Mike Finnegan I enjoy watching you Fabricating something from Scatch.
2019 was when I got to meet you and Tony at Cecil County. My youngest was super shy to meet you but my older son talked to both of you for a few minutes. Was great seeing these updates.
The car gremlins is always getting u Mike
Finn, you're too young to remember, but in the late 70s/early 80s, the baddest 55s on Earth were the Super Gas racers of Charles Carpenter and Dave Riolo (Google em). But NOW it's Blasphemi! And whoever came up with that name is a GENIUS!
69 year old cab I’ve watched you replace everything on this car at least twice LOL love your show great content awesome car!
Morning Finn, morning all.....👍👊
Good morning champ!
1 hell of a team fenn. Congrats to all of you.
Well done guys, I like the changes to the car from the lettering on the side to the new independent front end, wiring and I am sure other stuff wee didn't get to see. Again great work.
Now that's what happens when you rock a Schmedium. Lol.
I have those same hydraulic crimpers and when you find a dye that's close enough I usually put the fixed handle in the vise lightly so it doesn't want to rotate while you're crimping. Thanks for your videos as always! 🙏
I found out that the 2024 Drag Week was on Live feed. And I watched it for 4 or 5 Hours. And that's how I found out that you were out Mike Finnegan.
I remember that race between you and chase. That’s when I became a finnegan fan.
I read the title as "1,000 MILE ROAD TRIP IN A 69 YEAR OLD'S CAR!". You look great for your age Mike! 🤣
I met you guys at At o in 2019, you looked exhausted by then, for you guys to finish and win was epic
That white truck is just as bad ass as blasphemy. I love the stripes on it
Shoutout to Doughnut John! A very cool guy!
How is it possible that Basphemi is better now in so many ways than back in 2019 and yet it went slower and broke more than back then??
Exactly what I was thinking… it’s got the same or more power so the remaining factors would be clutch or rear gear.
I'm going to be honest. I don't like Blastphemi. What I like is you guys and overcoming the continuous struggles it brings. Thanks for bringing us along!
What's on your list of favorite vehicles? Just so many choices I'd be hoarding vehicles 😊
yeah Blasphem is getting boring, the same things repeated over and over again (ie Hemi breaks up one way or another)
maybe they should throw that unreliable Mopar Hemi in the bin and replace it with a big block Chevy or Ford...
Outstanding Video!!!!
I absolutely love this stuff.

Great show FINNEGAN'S GARAGE
Mike you really need to crimp ferrules on the end of all the wires going into those solid state relay blocks. They're cheap and prevent the screw blocks from damaging the bare strands of wire.
If Holley wasn't dumb and would make their CAN protocol public or if you used a regular ECU I'd say to just get a Power Distribution Module and CAN switch panel. Only need 4 wires to the panel with up to 12 buttons and different colors for each button. And with a pdm you can set the "fuse" amperage for each circuit and set logic to them so certain things would be shut off or turned on with ECU conditions or sensor readings.
I wired high end control systems. Instead of putting stripped wires into a clamp terminal I first put a ferrule on the wire..More support for the wire and prevents stray strands bridging terminals.
Was it 2020 that you had to rebuild the trans, and the 1/2 got flipped, so you money shifted the engine? I was thinking it was '19, but after the rebuild you still had all the cylinders.
Congrats Finn!!!
I love how methodical you are Finn, like there’s never really any mad rush it’s all thought through very aware of the physical movements. It’s quite calming to watch.
I don't think you've been watching his videos very long lol
He's rented tracks several times and forgot tools/parts that he needs lol.
He's far from methodical
@@austincassell4741 been here since the start actually. I mean when he’s in the workshop figuring stuff out.
@@Stiffkovic And every time they have to fix something at the track they should of caught in the shop.
@@CadeKiddAt this level of racing you'll never catch everything in the shop. If you're a fully-funded full time racer, sure. But a little bit more than a weekend warrior, nah. This is hot rodding and building cars yourself. There's always something to improve.
In the aircraft manufacturing world, we referred to guys like Finnegan as " basket weavers ".
Many decades ago there was a Hemi called Hemi under glass you're a see-through scoop made me think of Hemi under glass
I got to meet you on Thursday. It was awesome
Sheet metal snips are good for 18 ga mild steel, aluminum as thick as you can grab, and will break immediately if you lay them down on a table next to stainless steel of any shape or size. Just for future reference. 😂
Your stick out on the terminals should be approximately the width of the wire. And he was right if you stack terminal lugs you out one down and one up and depending on the size not suppose to stack more than three on one post. This is per the 505 aircraft manual. Lol
Watched all 5 days of Drag Week only saw Blasphemi 4 days. Sad ending
Just niticed the Junk Yard Digs decal haha
1,444 👍's up Finnegan thank you for sharing 🤗
Thanks for filling in the blanks.
Another great video 👍👍
I’ve been keenly watching you, Dave F and crew since the Roadkill Rotsun days.
Love the vids,
I’ve got to say that I preferred the “old gold” paint and Blashemi decals, much richer colour.
Cheers from Western Australia.
Hell yeah let’s gooo
cutting out the side of that elec box will also help cool it
Kudos to John the donut 🍩🍩 Guy!
Mike, you really need a wheelie bar or bars,if your allowed it in your class! Just saying.
Please.
Hopefully, in the next video, you will be showing us a victory from the event.
Great video! You guys are great together with Blasphemi!!
Although, I’m beginning to wonder if the rebuilt 632 might not be the ticket these days? It seems just about every time you get her all tuned up a running good something always happens. See, I’m wondering if the Chevrolet sprits are still a little miffed at you for running a Hemi in a ‘55 BelAir….🤷♂️🤷♂️😱
Just a thought ….🤣😆
love the content keep up the great work
Wish i could get into doing events like this, but sadly my car isnt quick enough to be worthy...lol. id like to once i can get the car set up how i want, but that will take some time.
Only events ive participated in recently was the modern street hemi shootout. Got third place at the cecil county raceway event (battle of the brands). Hoping this year turns out a little better with a major upgrade to the rear of my car, plus some lightweight items replacinf the factory's heavy ones.
Love the content mike. Keep up the good work. Ill be living vicariously through your videos. Lol.
NEWBERN!!!
Also the preview for this years Drag Week video looks TITS👌
Get “Midwest” snips. I do Sheetmetal for a living and that are the ONLY snips! Also offset snips are easier to use.
Wow that box truck Lincoln hawk
I know it's to late but that switch panel has a better cable now, they got ride of that ribbon cable
Cool, something to watch while I eat my bacon and eggs. 👊🇨🇦
5 years, damn where did the time go
It's flying for sure. Enjoy your life while you can.
what part is still original to the factory car?
The ribbon cable was my biggest turn away from the arc as well but luckily auto rod just came out with a revised cable that’s no longer a ribbon
@finnegan's garage valvetrain was even an issue when testing, definitely gotta figure that out and maybe time for a billet block?
Hell yeah my brother sick
Let's go!!!
Could you slip heat shrink tubing over the ribbon cable for more protection? The end is probably too big ?
Miss Atco Dragway...RIP
No, Finnegan, You are an Insane Madman if you like wiring.
man squareforce one was a cool truck
need to put some test street miles on the car for a few weeks to get it straight, track passes are secondary on drag week
I wanna know if Finn watches the Torque Test Channel!
I have been avoiding watching drag week videos so I can see what you did on your channel... Lol... Tough not watching updates!
Isn't Holly using that thin ribbon cable on one of their setups? Never did like seeing that on various youtuber installs.
If it's gonna do big wheelies maybe it's time to add wheelie bars
So it's fair to say, you're the 2nd oldest part of that car?
MISTER Michael Wayne Cotten in the Garage!!!
Your videos are always full of creativity and originality. Thank you for the inspiration!⛳️🌿🌿
ARC got rid of the ribbon cable and have updated to a nice bigger cable.
I was hoping you would do a couple uploads during the week
and from that trans debacle the Angelos gym t shirt was born!
5 yrs put a lot of miles on your beard too, it went from reddish-brown to gray in that time
Helluva last pass to take the W! Nice job FSM and TA!!
Except he trashed the motor
