A very large number of speedruns are done by exploiting bugs in the game. It's often quite harder to accomplish that than just running through a game the old fashioned way.
As a kid playing this, I somehow accidentally discovered that Warp after 1-1. I was blown away as I didn't understand what had happened. I thought it was a glitch! Surreal seeing this 15+ years later. Great run, dude!
I found it by accident too, but then died in the level it warps you to and never figured out how to do it again. 20 years later I stumbled across a video of a guy explaining it and couldn’t believe it.
I was lucky/skilled enough to make it to the next save area after doing the skip on accident, i had that save file on my cartridge for decades... until my kids started playing my SNES. lol... on the plus side, they enjoy the game as much as i did at their age. Plus, its common knowledge about the game these days. so nothing super special to keep in the end.

Instead of living in a castle full of lava, he's on a boat surrounded by water and will jump around like Mario as if he thought it was the best way to defeat an opponent.
And then we evolved this terminology, we realized that he kind of failed by the fact that his army was limited, while (with MY factory) We could theoretically create an INFINITE amount of soldiers. As well as possessing most if not all of the DK clans allies on the island. We were originally gonna hypnotize DK, but either A) He was too dumb to understand the music, or B) He was too intelligent. I pick the former TBH
After playing this for years, I finally beat it 101% on my own (with an insane amount of luck on some stages). The worst level was Platform Perils. So many Game Over screens because of that spawn of Satan level.
You might have found everything if you'd been playing Cranky, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have beaten it in under 9 minutes. It's time to eat a slice of humble pie old man.

I think when Cranky says at the end of the credits that he finished this entire game with 1 life in less than an hour he was referring to a similar run like this. He used glitches and exploitations to shortcut the game and finish it in a timely manner. ;)
The roll jump on platform perils is the most magnificent thing I've ever witnessed. Bloody glorious. It's just fun to see the silly ways speedrunners try to break the game to find the fastest way to do it. And anyone who calls cheating needs to get their eyes checked.

When I was a kid I accidently found a glitch that took me straight from the bend in between level 1 and 2 straight to the master necky battle without all the levels in between which would cut this record down considerably
The warps between the first two levels will take you to level 3-5, which is done here. There are two other warps in the first world which will also take you to that level and one that takes you to 1-2. The first Master Necky fight is in W2 and the one in W6 cannot be warped to. The warp used here in level 3-5 that takes you to 6-2 is the furthest you can warp in the game.

That is awesome! It would be cool for a commentary video as well describing how the glitches work. I'm a sucker for knowing what in the source allows glitches and the such to work such a way.

That Platform Perils glitch was legit. The wrong warps were cool and all, but dat armadillo glitch made my jaw slack.
It's hard as fuck to perform. I mean you need to hit the armidillo the same frame he hits you. (I think its a 1 60th of a second window).
