Motorbike Gear Review | What I Wear

To start off I don't have any affiliation with any of the brands mentioned in the video. This is just a run-down of the gear that I own & wear, as well as an honest opinion about each piece of kit.
Secondly, I'm by no means a professional at review videos so please give me some feedback in areas you think I can improve on.
If anyone has any questions, please just leave a comment below!

Yeah man, do, the boots are very good! I was thinking about getting an out and out track boot but was thinking about the rain here then. I said I'd rather get an all rounder :)

I’ve been needing to upgrade my gear for a while. This video motivated me to buy a new helmet last night and new jacket soon to come. Appreciate it!

Not too shabby for a first review video lad. You're getting very cinematic with the intro and outro shots of the gear. Very classy. The new logo must be influencing your style. Although, its probably the camera operators skills more than anything. 😉

@@LuckyLukeRides alright mate, the Scottish government are taking it really slow, good on them, restrictions only slightly lifted, went a 150 mile run today, bending the rules a bit. England are charging thru with lifting things, they are gonna get hit with a second wave, big time. Stay safe my friend.

Good review but I don't get the all black look. It might look cool but for safety I prefer a splattering of bright colours especially in the helmet.
Good gear! I think I have at least four jackets now, two pairs of pants (one fully perforated), four or five pairs of gloves, rain suit, of course a helmet, need to get some new colder weather boots. Leather definitely transfers cold more than textiles do, I hardly ever wear my leather jacket any more even though it's a great jacket and with the liner it's good down to freezing (Hein Gericke Dakar jacket). (Textiles are also much lighter.) Nice to see you've some proper chin hair there, lad! (I was so annoyed when mine started losing its color, but you shouldn't have to worry about that for some years yet.)
Haha, gear really does pile up over time. My textiles had to be dumped, there were holes everywhere and weren't worth anything.
I do enjoy the leather I must say, I wear it all the time now. Then again, we don't get extreme cold here so I'll have to wait & see if I ever come across it haha!
Haha, I need to shave. It's in protest of the restrictions :P Haven't been able to get a haircut, it's mad. Haha who needs colour anyway? Lack of colour is the wise & cool.
Ah, but the beard was such a nice reddish hue for so long, the salt-and-pepper stage wasn't so bad, but it's since gone essentially white and shows very white in photos (but still I think it looks better than the bare chin would). Funny little true story -- when I first grew it at 19, it came in quite red, one day a friend of my mother's asked if I'd dyed it to get that color! (As if a Celt would have need of such!)
@@triumphrider9796 Haha, to be honest the bare chin suits me much better. I just said I'd let it grow for a while seeing as we're all wearing face masks etc. nobody can see it :P

No, that's a much darker red when it dries, not attractive at all (haha). And the accumulating gear is more a function of what works best at different times (and seasons, I've ridden in temps down to below 20F and up to high 90'sF); there just weren't many good textile jackets until about twenty years ago, and full mesh is much more recent.

Hi Luke, looking to get a bike for the first time, for insurance purposes is it like cars were some insurance companies won’t insure a bike if it’s over a certain age?
Hey man! I haven't heard of anyone getting bike insurance rejected for that reason. If anything, most insurance companies can insure older bikes under a "classic" policy and it can work out cheaper! Your best bet would be to ring around and just tell them the year you're looking at & see if they'll quote you :)

I wore my summer gloves all through winter really cus I'm an I'm an idiot. Summer gloves are way better.

Yeah, I'm fairly happy with the gear I must say. My textiles had essentially turned to dust so I was due an upgrade. I spent a bit but it should last a good while!
I keep getting the two channels mixed up. It's eventually going to lead up to me uploading a video here and getting banned and then my UA-cam vlog going on my other channel and my Fans Only people getting very confused!

Yeah mine are going the same way, I'd happily invest in something like you're but my issue is sizing so we'll see! You're will def last a long time especially if you out that leather treatment goo on them!

Hey Samantha! I wear Levi jeans the odd time on the bike with just a regular greaser jacket but I do prefer the full leathers. You feel much more protected!
We don't have 7 eleven here in Ireland but yeah, I would wear the full leathers into the shops haha :)
