I loved the TAC Family story. Having only plunked around on a guitar that I purchased in 1972 and never really learned how to play, I began lessons at a local shop in October 2020. After about seven lessons now I have kept myself encouraged by recognizing all the small victories in my progress. This year has been difficult for all of us, with many of us in near seclusion because of the Big Beer Bug of 2020, so we need to do everything we can to stay encouraged. Thanks for this info on the amps, Tony and thank you for all you do for the guitar community! By the way, for those that didn't recognize him, that AER Compact 60 was demoed by John Oates, of Hall and Oates!!

Just bought an acoustic amp and discovered this video. Thank you so much for the vid, it has been monumentally helpful for me as virtually a complete novice and still very much a beginner guitar player. SOOO true about the amp helping you identify things to work on !! Loved Cath's story too ! Very inspirational, and I wonder how many of us share a similar story...

Glad to rediscover your channel Tony! I used to tune in 4-5 years ago but stopped because I wanted to hear my living music teacher’s voice amidst all the web noise. But your channel is some of the best web “noise” out there and I love that you focus also on people and not just tech. Very inspiring, especially right now as I hunt around for new direction and focus in my guitar playing. It is very much my life companion, even though it didn’t kick in until I was 46! Rock on!

Walked into a store and played the fishman loudbox mini and artist and I was blown away. However…in a dark and dusty corner I spotted a fender acoustasonic pr370 sfx. It was a vintage monster so I had to try it. The fullness in sound and the power of the lows made the fishmans sound like a tin can. Which is not an insult, the fishmans are amazing. I bought the fender and right now I’m dialing it in using your videos. Can’t wait!

Tony I can’t explain to you how much this video help me dial in great tone and sound with my Fishman Loudbox Artist Amp. Learning how to manage the sound that best suits my guitars has given me a new outlook on 2 of my guitars. My Taylor 214ce sounds great through this Amp after watching this video. Also my Martin GPCPA4R (man, that’s a mouth full) also sound terrific. I was have some issues with it. This video again has this Guitar sounding awesome with this Amp. My D-28 and D-18 sound great as they are. Thanks for all you do for us locked in Guitar Geeks. It’s been almost a year since COVID has had us Old Guys staying home for the most part. Without my Guitars and running I just may have lost my mind. Again thanks for everything. Oh yeah the Open Tuning Video also was great.

I use a Marshall AS100D acoustic guitar/vocal amp. The sound is very rich, warm and professional. The onboard effects are sparse but all of a high quality and very useable. It's also easy to use. Once I got this, all my other amps went out the window! The AS100D is a classic amp in the making and a must for any singer/player who want's the best but without breaking the bank. Highly recommended.

I dearly love my Fender Acoustasonic 30(w/DSP ) Has a fine sound and the mic side has great effects as well wonderful vocal attributes. I found in about 3 months old from the sister of a musician friend who suddenly passed away, Paid about $200.00 for it. Continues to play so well as look and sound well. The whole line of Fender acoustic amps are getting better and reasonable, including their new line. They range from about $100 to over $600 like the one similar to your example. The Marshall acoustics are nothing to sneeze at either.

    I love you VIDEOS!
This is my first time asking a question.
In this video, you discussed the set-up of my acoustic guitar AMPLIFIER.
However, it did not help me much because you only talked about the AMP's SETTINGS.
My Alvarez acoustic-electric guitar has GAIN and EQ settings on board, and my AMPLIFIER also has GAIN and EQ settings!
So how should I adjust my guitar's GAIN and EQ, and then adjust my AMP's GAIN and EQ?
I'm guessing the GUITAR's settings should be made FIRST. Yes? But where should the AMP's settings be? I DON'T KNOW?!
It's almost like there are TOO MANY OPTIONS...which can likely cause problems.
What if I boost the GUITAR BASS a little, and then I boost the AMP's bass a little?
Or should I keep the AMP settings at 12 o'clock and just boost or cut the guitar EQ?
I'm sure I'm not the only person in your audience with these questions.
    Thanks!
PS: I'm 73 years old, and I am doing a 90-minute solo FOLK CONCERT Friday night, and I am using my guitar amp.
And to further complicate things, my powered 12-inch PA speaker also has GAIN??? Arrrgh! LOL

You asked what acoustic amps I have? I have a Centaur A440 that I got in the late '90's and a recently acquired Roland AC-33. I use the Centaur when I can conveniently plug in to mains power and the battery powered Roland when I can't.
P.S. love seeing a D-35 in your hands. My D-35 was my first Martin, bought new in '72 with proceeds from an insurance settlement on a fire in my parents' house that had immolated my original student model Harmony arch top and Kay electric. It's got 49 years of bumps, bruises, repairs, tweaks and my mojo in it now, and is gettin' quite respectable as it ages. 👍 😁 💕 🎶

I play a Taylor 224CE Koa Deluxe through a Marshall AS50D in our church. The amp is then fed to our house PA system via XLR. My Taylor has a 2 band EQ and so does the Marshall with a Low/High, however no Mid. It does have an adjustable notch filter for removing feedback. I've struggled on how to adjust the EQ. Should I do it at the guitar or at the amp or both? I typically find myself backing the Mid off but in this case I don't have a Mid adjustment. Any ideas?

I currently have an older Ultrasound DS4 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp. It has two 8" speakers and provides excellent natural sound for my Taylor acoustic guitars. Seeing you were using a Mesa/Boogie Rosette Two, I think my Ultrasound provides a similar sound... but it does not have all the fine tuning the Mesa offers. But I bought used for $200 vs. a new Mesa for $1300!

I just picked up a DS4 as well! Just strummed through it last night and was impressed. Have you used this amp live?

Serious Guitarsenal from David! Noice! Some Serious Marshall amps in there too....also I own just a cheapy Fender Acoustasonic 15 amp that I got new for 100.00. For a first acoustic amp, small gigs, its just perfect and compact and works great for my purposes...2 channels, 3 band EQ, 1 Chorus, xlr and instrument cable inputs as well as a headphone jack input. Good deal. No frills and straight functional.

Maybe not so easy to get in the US but brands like Acus and Schertler are high on the list for acoustic amp brands. I have an old Framus acoustifier 120.. beast of an amp.

Tony, a other great show! As a viewer that has been with you from the beginning, it has been interesting to see the arc of the show and how it has evolved. These days it is much more streamlined and has shifted to focus mostly on TAC members. Not saying that's bad - just different. I definitely miss things like the mail bag and 'you know you're a guitar geek when...' segments, as well as others, but there's a lot of good content developing. As always, looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I agree, Daddio307! I miss the laughter, the jokes, and truthfully I miss Noah and Levi. I know, I know, Noah is helping his wife with their new business venture in daycare, and Levi still comes around to help in the background once in a while. I’m waxing poetic now, but you know what I mean.

Fishman Loudbox with battery. BECAUSE I can go to some of these elderly care facilities and not have to get the electronics tested

And for Christmas, my youngest gave me a Looper Pro Guitar Effector Leakto Looper (foot pedal) Station. It's going to take some work, but I hope to loop a bridge & verse, play that while I switch to a fiddle, then singing back at the chorus. It came early with the donor due to COVID.

Damn wish I bought the one with battery :( I feel limited and would be much smoother to just bring it wherever

Just purchased the Fishman Loudbox Acoustic. I struggled with which on to purchase due to my use case. First, I don't play a instrument (though I plan to one day). What I love to do is sing. I went with the Fishman as it has Bluetooth and use a back track and sing. Always interested if anyone else uses if mostly for vocals
