Im a Turkish teenager, I play the ney with the Japanese hat, im also self taught. I like how your video is modern therefore more attractive to younger people, your tutorial seems to be the combination of every single youtube tutorial I saw.
Thanks for this. I've had a ney for ages and have never been able to get a sound out of it despite watching hours of tutorials. Are plastic neys not as reliable as other material?
@@Neydayofficial Just been having a go. If I 'cheat' by playing it like a Shakuhachi, I can get that lovely tone! This is encouraging, as I've never managed to get the sound before. I think I've been blowing too hard. My Ney has been mangled a bit, on the mouthpiece, too. I think a new Ney, and practice, will enable me to play it correctly. Thanks to your video, at least I know now that I can make those lovely loud and pure notes 👍 And even the second octave was playable for me. Thanks!
Awesome! Just keep practicing and don't get discouraged. I'm planning to post tutorials on how to reach the high and low registers easily in the near future. Good luck!

my bro thinks that he is making a good sound out of it... this is ney not a flute
Ney is a type of flute and the Arabic word for it literally means flute 😂
