- Hi everyone, here I am sharing easy leave & brown mushroom fairy house jar lantern clay craft idea & tutorial works with air dry clay/ paper clay (any type, any brand). In this project, I used homemade clay.
I show all of my steps to make this mushroom house including the leave and painting in my video. If you've just started with fairy house DIY, you can craft along with me.
This brown mushroom design is based on my imagination but the mushroom itself inspired by real brown mushroom called parasola conoplus.

Once you have covered the jar in clay and cut out the doors and windows do you let it dry completely before adding the smaller details ? Or can you do it all with out letting it dry x
I wait until the clay dry then add small details. 😊

Gracias por tus comentarios. Sometimes we learn how things work by doing it::) I am sharing my work with homemade clay which I am familiar with and works well for me but of course you can use any type of air dry/ paper clay that you are sure will work for you. 😊

Do you do all the wet clay work in one sitting or is there a way to keep the piece damp and come back to it. Thanks.
No, it's not all wet clay in one sitting 🙂. To keep the clay damp, you can use sprayer. The water mist will keep the clay soft.

What do you have to do for it for no cracks do you bake it if so how long
Use enough overlapping and blend the clay at joining part and let the clay dry slowly.

Every time I try to make one of these my clay cracks when it starts to harden. Do you have any idea why?
What clay did you use? Your clay may dry too fast. Anyway, air dry clay will shrink when it's drying that causing cracks. You can patch the cracking lines with fresh clay. Otherwise, choose paper clay. I like my own homemade clay because it's easy to handle and no cracks.😊
