I watched this movie in Acting I class in college some few semesters ago, and this whole scene with the soldier speaking of hurrying to the firing squad is reminiscent of the treatment of the troops of the Red Army- I think judging from his uniform and Chryon's actions in this that they drew partly upon that and also partly upon the actual Greek play... and recast it into the early mid 20th Century AD, judging also from the clothes of the characters and their style. I surmised in class, actually, that Chryon is reminiscent of a "Red Tsar" in a lot of ways, including from his poster and his decree as well.
I think the starkness is a conscious decision to evoke Soviet styles. Creon looks like one of the Russian heads of state...as it is the main issue here is what deserves more loyalty, the state and “safety” or the individual promptings of family and conscience.
This is actually pretty good. Who else is here because they have a reading quiz/essay?

Actually, this classical entertainment is really quite good, and cultured as well.
POV: You are here because you have an English quiz/ test on this book

And the award for most similar to space movies than Greek goes to:
Is it just me or is the clothing not matching the period. I feel like I am watching an episode of Star Trek...
i wish the 1950 brits could have gotten their stuff together and given this a real attempt.
