    Hey gang! Thanks for all the feedback on the last video about the staging plate! Lots of excellent points, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
    I totally understand that the test I ran is not providing incredibly accurate data: potential bow in the extrusion, 3D printed part tolerance, overconstraining the plate and subjecting it to warping, etc. We received actual FAI data from the vendor that serves the purpose of true data gathering. We've also found that 0.8mm is easily within the bounds of what's acceptable for this plate, given that PnP nozzles have compliance in the Z axis due to a built-in spring (but of course, the flatter the better!). I attempted to preface the data gathering with a disclaimer that this is a gut-check, a functional test, for checking the nozzle's relation to the plate in the machine, not proper metrology. I don't think I did a great job conveying this, but I'll be sure to be much more accurate and explicit in the future!
    However, y'all provided quite a few other ideas about how to solve this same problem easier/cheaper that we're exploring now! Some aluminum extrusion with a thin piece of steel mounted across for those interested in magnetic mounting, or plywood for those not, would be an excellent solve, and quite a bit cheaper.

      What about pcb with components in the two sides, can this pick and place be able to handled

      @@harryman01 Not practical in a hobby setting, because part on the first side need to be glued. Otherwise they fall off in the 2nd reflow.

    You are a bundle of joy.. The happiness you radiate when it's homing is amazing.. Great progress with v3. Glad you took the expert community members to drive the board design and accept their work into yours.

    Stephen, when you're in the mood for yak shaving, put a piece of polarizing film on the webcam at your desk. The reflection of your monitor on your eyeglasses is a bit distracting, and it's easy to get rid of it since LCD light comes out polarized.

      That's interesting... I'm going to have to try that. Hmmm, where can I find some polarizing film.... ::... surplus 19-inch LCD displays on the shelf looking the other way hoping not to be noticed...::

    _Damn_ that new mobo redesign is sexy. And compact, too - packing this much functionality into 100x100mm is just nuts.

    The board looks really great!
    One small comment for the silk screen that I noticed in the video, was the naming of the bottom camera.
    For me, Bot Cam sounds like it might be on the gantry. Btm Cam might be clearer name wise for which camera it's referring to. Although I guess it shouldn't be hard to figure out if you are assembling an Index 😊

    Great to see progress. Noting the mechanical limit switches used for homing, has their repeatability (at different homing speeds) been assessed against target accuracy? It may make sense to move to optointerrupters

    Serious Question, I am going to buy a TVM802 (secondhand at a really low price). I know the vision system will have to be replaced (up and down cameras) but was wondering if your motherboard would be universal enough to use as a replacement for older machine and bring it over to OpenPNP.

      I guess so. But be aware that the TVM802 uses three Nema 23 steppers.

    Can you talk more about your decision create yet another custom CNC board? Why not use a regular RAMPS (or GRBL) hardware (or one of the 32-bit equivalents)? You can usually pick up a completely ready to go controller board with steppers for $20 to $30 on Amazon.

      If you go into the Github repository, you can get the BOM list of parts needed and 3D prints you must do to build the Index. You may wish to wait until there is an official release that's more packaged with more detailed documentation.

    Great project!!!
    This board suport step drivers tmc5160? Because Will be great If so, for more current and velocity on moviment.
    Observation, tmc5160 use SPI mode STEPPER DRIVE and the board need tô som jumpe tô configure this.

    Any thoughts on using this board in a 3D printer with Klipper? Maybe even Marlin??? I’ve been disappointed with the quality and longevity of 3rd party boards. Designing a board is probably out of my reach. But what you’ve got here looks like it could be great in an Ender 3 or Ender 5.

    Most breakout boards you buy these days have qwiic connector for I2C. Like all sparkfun and adafruit new boards has it. I feel like it's a must have too for anything considered to have flexibility...

      It's done some partial boards already, and some folks in the community are using it to populate boards, but in upcoming videos where I use it to make motherboards, you'll get to see it doing the full stack!

    Hmm, the people who make home pcb making machines would be good at making pcbs?

      PCBs are a dollar from China. Unless you need the PCB in less than 7 days, home PCB milling is not really practical. Also home milling is limited to 2 layer.
