previously when you try to drop a castle and your unit was on the foundation, that used to leave the foundation automatically. Now it keeps there forever and you need to move by yourself
I noticed another small bug with this button. When you select large groups of villagers (10 or more), the button will be missing and you can't drop off resources. But if you split that group into say 2 groups of 5 villages, both subgroups have the button where it should be.
@@AnimeFan-dl4qd Yes, but getting food is one of the biggest challenges early in Forest Nothing, because you don't have much space to build farms. With the trick you can have 10 lumberjacks chop 100 wood, right-click on your first farm and deposit 100 food.
Yeah, though it's kinda weird the gold and stone didn't turn into wood but the wood did turn into food for farmers. But should be an easy fix, checking their resources instead of the profession
The problem is that I think the QCs play normal games, normal build orders and just check if the feature works "as intended". They need to hire QCs like the spiffing brit who'll find everything that breaks the game because how annoying must the coding for this game be if dropping off resources causes dumb bugs like these
Yeah from what I’ve heard, the original programmers were absolute experts in C/C++ who were doing a ton of clever and whacky stuff to get the programming to work just right. As a result, it’s apparently really hard to work with it properly when it comes to systems updates like this (All this is secondhand from what others have said so don’t take it as fact)
this sort of interaction should be the first edge case you try tho. Like, if you even try to think "what could be an edge case here?", wouldn't this be one of the first to come to mind?
this is actually just a more egregious version an already existing exploit which is now more easy to execute by the new hotkey. A lot of people consider it a "skill"

They need to hire QCs like the spiffing brit who'll find everything that breaks the game because how annoying must the coding for this game be if dropping off resources causes dumb bugs like these
The resource added must be inferred from the villager's 'profession' (farmer, lumberjack, ...). However I think it's not because of the new hotkey. Rather the feature that once you click a new resource you get to keep all of the old resource carried. In the old days all old resource was lost once you clicked a new type. (Carrying gold -> click wood -> lose carried gold). It must be an old solution in the code that worked until now.
yes it's a feature in DE villagers that allows villagers to "drop off" resources at a different economic building when they build it. The new hotkey allows villagers to be routed to the wrong building and force the drop off. Several ways it can be fixed but yes it's piggybacking off a DE feature that wasn't in the original game
Isnt that pretty known? Like taking deer, then Take shorefish and drop the food in the dock? I mean its food for food, but the working concept is the Same No?
Food is food, this is dropping of gold at a lumbercamp. The essence is the same, but "hunters" dropping food at docks not really a 'bug'. More of a design limitation. Villagers shouldn't lose their food when you switch from deer to fish (that'd be stupid). But a villager will switch from hunter to fisher. Which inherently alllows you to drop food off at a dock. So combine those two (three) rules and it's just something you'll have to accept with the current system (and honestly, it's fine, doesn't matter really)- This bug on the other hand, (even without being able to convert wood to food) is definitely a bug that can and should be fixed ASAP 11
As a software developer myself, I am starting to think that these devs are all juniors straight out of college. How do you allow something like that to happen?? How was this not discovered during testing??
so it checks the villager's occupation to see what resource type it is dropping off, or where it can drop off held resources, that's a bit of a code smell right there 😂 also seemingly it's done differently between stone/gold and food/wood since not everything turns to food? I'd love to see how this is implemented
Damn thats nuts. Imagine u have no food and u 2000 wood annnd have 30 villages on wood chopping, u highlight all villages on wood send them to a farm then click drop off resources them boom u have lots of food now. This is bad man, can be game changing
