    Hello,
Today we are starting a new series on Dating & OCD.
In this episode, I discuss some high-level tips for dating and having a successful romantic relationship while living with OCD & Anxiety.
It’s important to remember that if you struggle with OCD & Anxiety you don’t have to let it limit your life. Especially, when it comes to experiencing many of life’s amazing gifts like love and family.
Sure, it might take a little more work in certain areas from both partners, but people with OCD & Anxiety can absolutely enjoy healthy and successful relationships.
In this episode, I am going to discuss dating from both the perspective of having OCD and the perspective of having a partner who has OCD.
My hope is that this will help couples begin to navigate some of the common issues they may be facing if OCD is a third wheel in their relationship.
    Have a great week,
    Matt

Met a guy I like who has it. I recognize the systems and instead of being freaked out i want to learn how to understand him.

I struggled with this a lot. He tried to hide it and ended up freaking me out. I was so unsure what was going on he just came across as weird or odd. He finally told me but still very vague and said that he was going through therapy but since COVID he had stopped. He would try to suppress his compulsions and avoid doing things so he wouldn’t have to deal with the compulsions. He was also extremely underweight and he would only say he had a high metabolism and that he has always been a thin guy. But looking at pics of him from a year in the past he was not that skinny. I felt like OCD was causing him not to eat and he was living alone. I have anxiety so I just couldn’t deal with it and it was such a shame but he really needed to get back to therapy. I wish him the very best.

I have very bad anxiety and rage outburst, couldn't handle the situation like you as well. Now I'm questioning if it was me or she was experiencing a lot of ocd, I think I did shit and treated her so bad cause I didn't know how to recognize patterns and even if some times I did I was so frustrated that I always ended up treating her in a shitty way because of my inner rage. I didn't mean to do that to her because I loved her so much but with my PTSD and anxiety was so hard, some of her behavior and intrusive relationship thought just lit my bad behavior, aggressiveness and paranoia. We couldn't fit, we still are in touch but we had another big fight tonight. It's all cause of me maybe. I don't really know, I just know it's hard to be with her as much as it's hard to be with me when I freak out. I hope the struggle will end for everyone of us.

When I was talking to my now boyfriend I was just open. I told him almost everything (in due time, I wouldn’t recommend doing that on the first date 😆). If they are the right person for you, they will accept you and your challenges ❤️
