Easiest way to tell, if you see circles, it's Korean. Japanese and Chinese are harder unless you recognize kana (simpler, less cluttered looking characters, which means Japanese.)

That is an anti-softlock. I’ve watched others play troll levels. I’ve never played a troll level myself. Anti-softlocks are made to be anger inducing, frustrating, annoying, etc on purpose. They are also accompanied by a sudden change of music. The goal in them is to lose a life. In troll levels, they aren’t usually found before the first checkpoint. They are usually found after the first and second checkpoints.
