I found one in the late 90s in the Tacoma Narrows and was wow WTF.... and a little in shock. I left it where I found it, and looked into them, even talked to Fish and Wildlife. It's called a "box crab" It's a type of king crab. And it's protected, super low numbers. Really cool that you where able to find one now. They where next to non existent back in the 90s. 10+ years on scuba and only ever saw the 1. Tons of friends I talked to had never seen one, most thought I was telling tales. And thought those are extinct. Cool critters, glad to see they are still around.
Hey, thanks for sharing your story! My friend told me that you have to find their habitat and that’s the only way you will see them. They have a very specific habitat and stick to it. I didn’t know they were called box crabs though interesting thanks for sharing.
@@seadogdiogo_mylifeinmotion I did deep downhill mountain biking in Moab Utah and Montana through all my 30s and 40s now I'm a 55 old fart so ... missing so much the adrenaline of it now I went electric 🤣🤣
@ I get it! I did Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for many years, and also miss that adrenaline from it! After I retired from it, I started freediving and now euc to replace that energy🤪
there’s a specific time of the year and very specific habitat that they live in. Once you align those two and develop a keen eye to identify them in their habitat then your golden.😎🌞

That’s wild! I’ve started diving and haven’t seen one before. Any tips?
