I inherited 2 of these wonderful radios. One is still new in box. They are amazing. Sync detection actually works on these units. Thanks for the review.
This is a great radio that had a long production life. The sync is excellent. Some complain about it not having knob tuning - the tuning it has is fine. It works great with the AN-LP1 active antenna - the radio powers the active unit itself, no need for batteries. I remember listening to all the 911 coverage on this radio - took it with me everywhere. Is very good on MW. I purchased my first one from Grove Enterprises. I have two end of run GR’s now.
I actually have had two of these and sold them because they are very noisy on receive. I do have the previous model the 7600G which to me has a much better audio and the sync lock is amazing. The only drawback on the 7600G is the limited memories.. Thanks for the review!
The Sony 7600GR is a great SW radio, its synchronous detection is superior to that of some $1000-plus tabletop SW receivers. Have a couple of those in mint condition with boxes etc. Bought my second one when I caught word that Sony was ending production, gonna hang onto both.
I have this beast. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment which has high insulation windows so no signal really comes in. I can barely hear any FM stations here.
Actutally two, 1090 WCZZ also. Both are fringe stations here in Batesburg-Leesville during the day. WCRS is fun, especially Ann who really does everything there.
Yeah! Anne Eller owns WCRS. If you need depressing music from the old days, tune to her show Trash to Treasures on Saturday Mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30pm. She play songs from the 1920s 30s 40s and so on. Since you from Batesburg Leesville, do they still have an AM station? And shout out to Shealy's BBQ!
DE1103 1st gen and Grundig G5 came close, it's good enough to use at night. The Ccrane EP pro has a completely lit backlight though it's a analog tuner for a DSP radio.

Got a question Todderbert, can you listen to the situation with Russia and Ukraine on the shortwave band?
Sure, you may try to tune in BBC for news updates.
