Thank you for this great video. I miss the original Wrather Disneyland Hotel, and particularly the Monorail station. I used to have a full breakfast at the Monirail Cafe, located near the station. The TravelPort was below the station. . It was so easy to buy your book of Disneyland ride coupons, including the two-part red momorail return ticket for the end of the day. Sometimes, i would take the RTD #40 Nonstop Express bus from diwntiwn L.A., with the intent if returning to L.A. that evening. But once in a while, i would opt to get a room for the night ar the hotel, just to enjoy the park at nigh, fireworks, until closinand extend the weekend. Then i could do most of it again the next day! Nothing beat the enthusiasm of whizzing oast the crowded ticket booths at the Main Street plaza, from the monorail tracks above and magically going through the eucalyptus trees and suddenly inti Tomorrowland. These were great memories.
Thank you VERY much for uploading this. This was the DL Hotel in it's heyday. The dancing waters show next to the waterfall caverns ( which looked awesome at night ), the shops and restaurants around the lake, boat rentals, and even the underwater arcade. Prior to the Neon Cactus i recall that was a bar / dinner show called Sgt. Preston's of the Yukon, no doubt a license held by Jack Wrather. That monorail pickup at the hotel was awesome. Although the Disney of today is "trying" they're missing the mark of what the past was able to accomplish.
Thanks for the comment. As a Floridian, I didn't make it to Disneyland very often. I'm glad I got to see the hotel in its heyday and managed to record a little bit of it for posterity.
I hope that they build a second tower for there DVC Villa expansion. Because the current number rooms is 395 rooms and the Bay Lake Tower at Walt Disney World has 428 rooms, Including Fourteen Grand Villas. Where this new edition only has Two Grand Villas. A brand new version of Steakhouse 55 can be placed there as well. Also, there can be Waterfront Bungalows. Basically like the ones at the Polynesian Resort that can float on a man-made Lagoon, where a DVC addition to the Paradise Pier Hotel can also be placed in.
Grew up watching the fireworks every night @2130.. if you want thrills go to Knott’s or Magic or even a water park. Nostalgic and one of a kind, but it’s Disney.
Thank you so much for sharing these memories! The video's jostled a few of my own memories of the hotel loose, and that for that I'm very grateful. The place really was magical!
The only movie theamed rides were only of Disney . Boy were we lucky to see Disney at its peak !!!! Not one original ride today . All of em movie related. Disney turned into Universal studios and not many people noticed along the way ....

What a classic place - much better than now
What the, there was a water pond like that. I wonder if they still have it today.
