- When comparing the Yeti Tundra 45 to the Igloo Sportsman 40Q you'll notice that the coolers look strikingly similar. The Igloo Sportsman seems to be a beefier cooler with larger latches, a notched hinge system and overall larger profile.
When it comes down to performance, is it worth spending the extra $200 that a Yeti Tundra 45 will cost when compared to an Igloo Sportsman 40Q? If interested only in performance and not the Yeti brand name, then no, it is NOT worth spending the extra money on a Yeti cooler. The Igloo 40Q held ice just as long and as well as the Yeti Tundra 45. It is also worth noting that the Yeti Tundra 45 is actually 37 quarts not 45, and the Igloo Sportsman 40Q is in fact 40 quarts. Therefore, you are getting 3 quarts more out of the Igloo Sportsman 40, for almost half the price.

If i happened to ever get a YETI (after donating plasma) the first thing I would do is place a Coleman/Igloo what have you sticker over the top of the YETI brand name. I don't need a thief stealing my cooler in the middle of the night. I actually like the features of the Igloo better. Thanks tons for the review.

i just found out and had to return my yeti cooler back to store because did not realize when I bought it that it was assembled in China which makes it extremely overpriced for a chinese cooler went to sams club and bought the igloo sportsman made in usa cooler for 179 vs the yeti 399 for the same size lot better value.

hey man, what would be great is if you you would do a best cheap cooler review. like, under 30 bucks off the shelf type stuff; within a certain size range. Thanks to your videos I've narrowed a roto molded cooler down do Engel, Orca, Pelican or igloo sportsman. but I'd like to see a cheap cooler review also.

Have you done a warranty comparison? I know Orca is lifetime and many of the other high dollars are only around 5 years. This is among of the BIG selling points to me!

Saying the same thing over and over. What people still don't get=it's how things are made. The quality of the plastics/insulation etc. In the end, there is usually a reason the best brand IS the best long term.
But which is the best brand?

Not sure why "Grizzly is beloved" to Coolers On Sale. Good on you for finding a deal! For what its worth, Grizzly just won the small cooler ice challenge (20-25Q) it seems color plays a big role in ice retention.
To me, yeti would win because of the accessories that you can get for the yeti
You can get the same accessories if not more for the igloo as well, including a seat cushion.
That really justifies the purchase.
Accessories are like 25$ a piece. Insane.

yeti brand in MY personal opinion....P.O.S. OVER PRICED! nylon handles and small rubber latches....if you're going to spend money on a cooler get a pelican if not get a smaller brand like driftsun or vibe. Yeti is the king of price gouging

I got an Orca after watching 1 of your tests & the Orca didn't even come close to your results. Do you think my Orca is defective?
How much ice were you using? How Long did it last and what size Orca?
26 QT 10 pounds of ice, lasted just 48 hrs, average outside ambient temp 74 F. Cooler was pre-chilled. Located in climate control room no sun.
10lbs in that cooler filled it up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way? To be in a cool room that does seem short. Try with a full cooler of ice. You should get 3-4 days. The smaller coolers definitely held ice shorter than the 40 or 58Qt, but I still think you should get longer than 48 hours

If it's worth anything, a good cooler will last through heat for an entire week with no hitches if the cooler itself is pre-chilled before you use it.
I have igloo55 it's ok ice only last 2days where I'm from just bought the yeti 65 let's see how it does

How bout the Igloo IMX series. People need to know them coolers are not all that. Advertised to hold ice 7 days. I’m lucky to get 3.
