Might be a good idea to add a regulator to ensure the output remains consistant as the voltage will shift depending on the sunlight hitting the solar pannel and likely damage your phone.

I have this security camera style solar light and the board in it died so I modded it into a nice flashlight with a small 5v 1A USB power bank mounted inside the light. The original solar panel is still on the light. I'd like to make my light chargeable by just leaving it out in the sun. I like that USB cord you have with the three ends for different devices.

I just bought the same stepdown module along with 10W (12-18V) panel.. It still does not give too much juice but it's rainy today.. thumbs up for your vid but use bigger solar panel bro.. they're still pretty uneffective, maybe in future they'll find a way how to squeeze more juice from it so they'll be smaller but still give more current

I purchased FPV racing drone parts for my custom builds from Banggood 5, 6 times over the last several years without any problems. Banggood is very popular in Asia. Items arrived new, as advertised, good quality. Shipping time varies with the item. Some arrived in less than 2 weeks, others like wire, connectors generally a month after clearing customs. They're a more reliable source for many parts than Aliexpress. Key - Do your "item" research ahead of time - manufacturer, model, specifications, pricing, etc. Make sure YOU KNOW EXACTLY what you want. Look at purchaser reviews and feedback on related forums. Have no reservation going back to them again.

Buck converter handles 24V, i have tried 4 panels in series to get 24v*0.1A power. For old mobiles to charge you atleast need 10W charging or 2A current at 5V....Video only shows that mobile charge indicator is turned on when it gets 0.1A current which is true..
However it will not juice up your battery even by 1% no matter how long you keep it in sunlight...

@@09kenxgamer31 Nice Idea, but yeah....this setup would take FOREVER to charge up a phone, especially a power hungry Samsung. More of a gimmick than a usable charger. When I use solar it's not a gimmick, the solar must really work...I mean charge as fast or faster than a wall charger, even during brief clouding. My portable PS setup can charge a Mophie at 18 watts+. We don't even own a wall charger that can do that. I came on here looking for a simpler more compact/more efficient design idea than the 12 volt PS....but this isn't it. You need a minimum of 10 watts at 5V-6V to make solar do something useful, 5 watts minimum for a phone and 10+ for a power bank.

@@kennmossman8701 Can you explain the difference between a charger and a power supply? They both supply current at a voltage, or electrical power... put simply: "supply power". A charger is a type of power supply but a power supply isn't necessarily a charger. Look at a phone charger... it's actually any 5V USB PSU (universally speaking) and the phone will pull as many amps as it wants and the PSU can support.
One example use in the video: Charging a phone! So it obviously definitely can charge a phone - thus - it's perfectly fair to call this a "charger", which is a type of power supply! And the video description says: "1. 5V 3A USB Step Down Power Supply Charger". An object can be defined by how you use it rather than what it physically is. Is it a steel rod, or a fire poker? or a weapon? Chisel or a screwdriver? Hammer or a big adjustable wrench?
Sometimes what we've blindly taken as gospel from our professional training can hold us back as it limits our concept of possibility. But as you go through higher levels of education it feels like a merry-go-round of "What we told you before was an over simplification and inaccurate. THIS is actually what's going on.".
I checked your channel, but you don't seem to have made anything like this? Everything looks easy from the arm chair...
He could have tested it with an inline USB power meter, but that would depend on the panel illumination and temperature among other factors. What are the chances you use the exact same panel rather than a slightly bigger/smaller one. Also without an MPPT the power output could vary depending on what the load is trying to pull.
Sure, more information would have been nice. But if you need more explanation than given then that doesn't suggest to me that it's the video that's "slowest kid in class grade 4"
It's easy to criticise other people's work. Harder to produce it yourself. I'll take your criticism with any weight when you produce a better version.

You didn't state the battery voltage of the PS- that's sort of a big deal. I assume it's 12 volt. If so, you could perhaps get this idea to work but you would waste a bunch of power boosting the 5V all the way up. A boost converter is less efficient than a buck converter. That's a BIG Boost. If it's 12 volt, use a 12 volt (18-21) solar panel. I bought my 30 watt standard panel for way less than $50. You don't need a foldable panel, that's just another gimmick. A 30 watt standard is small, portable, more stable, better power and easier to setup and take down than that folding panel. It takes 10 seconds. That foldable panel is to hook to USB. I just want a regular 5V-6V 10 watt panel (that would crank with a phone or bank).

I love how much smaller and lightweight this is than my older power banks ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxU45wIUiiQjrUWgrFNORkYxVlmCsYWENJ and yet it charges even more. Bought one a couple months ago and loved it so much I purchased a second one and gave it to my granddaughter as a gift. We're avid campers so power banks are an absolute must have. I also like to keep these charged for when the power at home goes out which has happened a couple times this year. They are so convenient and easy to use. You can charge multiple devices at the same time. The compass is a nice added bonus. I appreciate how quickly this arrived. I am curious to see how long these take to charge in the sun.

    LMAO
    this is a joke.
First - it is NOT a charger - its a power supply!
It shows a shocking lack of knowledge - it is like a Grade 4 project done by the slowest kid in class.
no explanation, no details, poor specs, no parameters, terrible construction and poor soldering And testing is a total joke.
