We spent a really great Lunar New Year holiday at Kyuho’s grandfather’s house preparing and eating food, exploring a creepy, abandoned ’haunted looking’ house, and enjoying the fresh air :) Luckily we managed to take the KTX (high speed train) this time, which made our journey sooo much more enjoyable!

Gorgeous scenery and great editing. I love seeing you two find peace and harmony with the world and each other. I grew up in a dysfunctional and emotionally unstable family. It's so enjoyable and therapeutic to see a family being positively harmonious.

Love it! Your Korean impresses me, Sarah, and makes me so jealous. I'm really working hard and being here in Korea helps but it's still such a long road. Also, Beemo makes me so happy, haha. I miss my cat back home so he's a little ray of sunshine.
+Natasha Darling Ohhh goodness--thank you, but it's really nothing to be jealous of! My speaking skills are really quite poor considering how long I've been here, and I have a ton to learn. For some reason, Korean is a language that has a hard time 'sticking' in my brain--if that makes sense. If only I had come here when I was a university student to only focus on only studying Korean for a whole year 😣
2hearts1seoul I often wish the same thing! I grew up in England so I honestly didn't pay Asia any attention when I was in university in the states because I just assumed some day I would move back to England. Imagine my shock when life led me here, haha. Now I wish I'd taken the opportunity to study Korean in school but hindsight is always 20/20 and I can't go back so I've got to just work with what I've got now :)
Also, it totally makes sense, the sentence structure is so foreign to me that I have a hard time figuring out how to word things. I also feel like I should be further along in my progress than I am but I'm just gonna blame it on that :P

Happy New Years, it was wonderful to see you spend some time with Kyuho's family. I love to see their farm/country estate. I love that they have so many fruit trees. We have, on our property, 4 columnar apple trees, 2 columnar crab apples (for pollination's sake) 1 peach tree, 1 plum tree, and 1 cherry tree. We also have blueberry, and currant bushes. So, I understand what it's like to enjoy fresh fruit in season, or having made jams, jellies, and preserves, or drying fruit. My dear husband is a rooster, so it's "his" year again. 음식을 만드는데 너무 많은 시간을 보내는 것보다 좋은 선택인 것 같습니다. 음식보다는 사람이 먼저 ㅎㅎ. 생활한복 너무 이쁘네요. 막 화려하지 않지만 소박하고 단아한 멋이 있네요. 새해 복(福) 많이 받으세요.

Awww your 설날 was soo nice and comforting. Also lucky you got to get the KTX. I went to 부산 for 설날 and it was such a pain to get any ticket. I ended up having to take the bus. It was a long 4 to 5 hour ride. haha. As always I enjoy watching your vlogs. :)

Just came across your channel. I'm not one to comment or even subscribe on UA-cam videos but.... I absolutely love it! Currently desperate to travel to South Korea, getting bored of London (although, it is my home I would deeply miss it... eventually). Really want to work abroad!! These videos are just pushing me to work harder in my degree so I can achieve my goals & experience what you guys are experiencing! My second language is Urdu, so I understand Hindi. When Kyuho said some Hindi phrases I honestly applauded him, bloody fantastic. Sarah, your Korean is amazing and wish I could pick up another language like you did. Your guys' videos always keep me so intrigued. When I saw Beemo I just enjoyed your videos even more (I'm a cat lover) I went all Instagram stalker on Beemo the other day. Beautiful boy 💕

Happy year of the Rooster! I am glad to see you guys had a wonderful Lunar New Year. It's actually really interesting to compare the Lunar New Years between different parts of Asia. In Taiwan, we had the traditional food preparation as well as the ancestral worshiping ceremony. We also had a red envelope exchange of money. Did you guys exchange red envelopes, too or is that not a tradition in Korea's Lunar New Years?
I remember how hard cooking is for the Lunar New Years. It's beginning to change thank goodness, but my mom and aunt had such a hectic time in the kitchen. Secretly, my sister, dad and I helped prepare some of the meals with my mom beforehand so she didn't have to spend so long cooking. And then we started to get lazy and just bought frozen meals like you guys did. XD
The Hanbok looks astonishing on you. I'd really have thought you were Korean if I looked at you, Sarah. You look so natural in it, as you did in the summer hanbok. It really does bring out the beauty in you. :)
Glad you guys enjoy the train. I remember how I hated taking the bus as well. It's long, it's inconsistent (wait time can vary from 15-30 minutes to 1-2 hours if consecutive buses don't cancel. And the Long Island Nassau County buses don't have a tracking app like the city buses do). So I decided to pay a bit extra to take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) and the trains are so roomy, comfy consistent, and fast. If you ever visit New York and decide to visit long Island, take the train. Never the buses. They suck.
Beemo missed you guys! But he didn't cry as loud as the first time you guys went away for a long time to Jeju. OMG I sometimes still feel like summer was here just yesterday. I really need a vacation.

+AdrenalStorm Hello~! Apparently Koreans don't use red envelopes--everyone in Kyuho's family tends to use ordinary white ones :)
Kyuho's mom said it was so much more stressful in the past--especially for the women as you said. Luckily with each passing year, the food prep has been downsized AND everyone must work--not just the women, so it's much less stressful for everyone and gives us more time to eat and relax 😎
LOL, we'll remember your tip about the buses in New York! They're pretty horrible in Nova Scotia too...sooo inconsistent and the one by my parents' house runs only once every hour on weekends 😑
